Our first major project on the CNC was a big FAIL. Comment below on some of your project fails! 😀

Depending what software you are using you can select a G-Code lone to start from so you don’t cut air
@IMEEMADE4 жыл бұрын
Good to know! I'm just using carbide 3d software (carbide motion). I should look into other software that has more capabilities
@indecent7024 жыл бұрын
IMEE MADE I think ugs will work with your controller and has that capability

Where do you buy aluminum ¿
@beermoneyworkshop97373 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with what controller this machine would use, but if it's anything like a basic Fanuc, you can use a GOTO command to skip ahead in the program and get to the line number where you left off. Basically just put in GOTO1234 after all your startup/safety commands. then on the line where you left off add N1234 at the start of the line where there's a safe Z height. The machine will skip all the commands in between so you don't have to cut air for hours. This is extremely useful if you do a reasonable amount of machining, so it's worth learning.

That's great to know! Thank you!

@@IMEEMADE no worries. I just started my own channel, I would kill to get my hands on a CNC, I feel like a caveman in my own workshop :) I'll get there eventually.

Haha, definitely know the feeling! Soon enough you'll have everything you want in your workshop, one tool at a time!

Wait you broke 5 end mill bits? What did you do wrong? I'm going to cut aluminum soon myself, trying to learn tips and tricks. Also did you use any lubricant?
@IMEEMADE3 жыл бұрын
Lol yes it was an ambition first project with aluminum. I had the speeds and feeds wrong and didn't use any lubricant. Single flute end mills are the best you can find decently priced ones at 2Linc.com. Use conservative speeds and feeds then speed override as you gain confidence with your recipe. Good luck and have fun!!

No such thing as a "flaw" - just call it a feature! : ) Nice video and story. Mahalo for sharing!

Not a fail if you learned things. Besides, anybody can make two hearts romantically overlapping when they are side by side. Who would think to make them back to back? NYC CNC is the best, and I love Fusion 360. I use Chilipeppr to feed gcode to my control, and it lets you pick up the program wherever. I use it in a mill, but it all works the same as what you are doing.
@IMEEMADE4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! That's motivating to hear. You're right as long as you learn something, it's never a fail. I'll definitely check out Chilipeppr, thanks for the insight!

De-bured the edges 😳🤬 lol. If the shank of your tool is long enough I always put mine butted to the back of the router so if I have to changing is easy (adds Z axis rigidity to! And if you need to use any other tool use a drill bit stopper on tool you want to use and when you initially set your Z height set these other bits in the machine drop to zero and set the stopper just a collar with a set screw. You can always take stock away however you can't quite put it back. Hence this flat feature on my key chain loop.. 🤫🙄 I found WD-40 and air blast was best and from the footage I'm looking at I'm thinking it's sticking because it got hot at the end. And maybe the feed and depth where quite aggressive for the spindle (shapoko rigidity)speed which the above will help with if I were to guess. Damn didn't mean to write a Bible sorry lol.
@IMEEMADE4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the wealth of information! The drill stop collar is such a good idea, I'll have to do that for the next project. This was our first attempt with the shapeoko besides the hello world test and you're right the feeds and speeds were way too aggressive and the tool paths needed a bit of work. We've since dialed everything in to cut without airblast or coolant. Single flute cutters FTW! Lol thanks again for the comment and watching our video!
