1:48 for decades manufacturing for body kits were expensive and alwaaaaaaaaaaays needed LOTS of work to fit properly…now that scanners and 3D print machines are so readily available, I can’t wait to see more and more of these amazing projects. Also…with zero interest in a lot of any sort, I do hope that the technology will make accessories like this more accessible.

3:40 for future projects that don't involve carbon fiber, I recommend not using superglue. It does not hold up to UV or heat and will fail before the ASA. I recommend plastic weld staples. They're not pretty but they hold a lot better than you'd expect, and you can always just sand and bondo the melted portions.

I really like this oem plus look suits the car perfectly. I have only one suggestion. I know it's your first time, but for the next fenders you can try blocks sand the details before the last wet sand. This will remove that waves that are visible on the final shots.

Could you explain how you use the point cloud from the 3D scan as a guide to "fit" the new fender design on them. In the video you only show the frontal view, which is intuitive but i don't see how the point cloud data get part fo your design so that the new fender fit snug against the car body. Would love to try something like that.
@IMEEMADE
@IMEEMADE 15 күн бұрын
Yes I made a quick video on my instagram. You can use the “pull” command in Fusion to get each point on the fender model to attach to the 3D scanned mesh.

@@IMEEMADE Remove the filament at least at the edge... If you want a more durable part, you can remove all the PLA inside, just keep the outside carbon fiber, and reinforce the inside with some layer of fiberglass/carbon fiber

First attempt: you cover your 3D part.... Second attempt: your 3D part is the mold... It's a little bit tricky to make a female mold for few complicated parts, not for wing... 3 or 4 layers of fiber glass are always better/stronger/lighter:more durable than a PLA/PETG core cover of fiberglass....
