Very useful video, thank you. I’m not using a controller like yours, I’m converting a laser cutter. I’ve got the relay working with the laser, as in turning on and off when it should. Do I just need to bridge the 2 wires coming from the plasma trigger, and connect them to the normally off circuit on the relay?

Can we please have a part number for the single 5v relay switch? Amazon prefered.

Hey, thanks for this video. I have a 5V 2A solid state relay and I was wondering if this is capable to manage a plasma torch trigger. Thanks in advance.

It should work fine. there is no high voltage running through the switch

I just want to add that solid state relay do not work with DC power as standard

instead of cutting the switch cable of torch, you can connect the control cable and the relay switch to directly the plasma machine.

Can you show me how to hook up the torch and relay to a gecko 540?
@cncmetalworks3 жыл бұрын
Hi have a look at page 8 on the manual attached - www.farnell.com/datasheets/2547873.pdf - here is reference of the outputs - OUTPUTS: The G540 has two general purpose outputs called OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2 on the MAIN TERMINAL BLOCK. They are at POSITION 5 and POSITION 6 respectively on the terminal block. These outputs may be used to drive relay coils or for any other purpose. The outputs are rated at 1A and 50VDC maximum. Connect one end of the load to the output and connect the other end of the load to a positive DC voltage. This voltage may be the G540 power supply or it may be a separate power supply having a different voltage.

My plasma torch fires when is not supposed to and it stops when it supposed to fires Can i reverse that in mach3?
@cncmetalworks2 жыл бұрын
You need to check if this happens when there is no power - Mach3 won't help. You need to setup the relay to be normally open and only close when Mach is powered on and sends a signal - not sure if this makes sense
@orubenvaldez2 жыл бұрын
@@cncmetalworks yes, even with the control board off and pc off as soon as I turn on my plasma on, it fires the torch, still cant figure it out. Mach3 shows torch fire on but actually plasma is off and vise versa.

@@orubenvaldez The issue you have is you have the plasma wires connected to normally closed on the relay. connect the wires to normally open. so that when there is no power to the relay the plasma does not come on

@@cncmetalworks genius. I was having a hard time trying to figure out that

Can you not just use a laser board and have the relay added to where your laser would plug in so when it activates it turn plasma on and off like a laser would
@cncmetalworks5 жыл бұрын
All this does is complete a circuit what one wants to make sure is that there is no connection back to the board when the circuit is competed. Also some of the issue we have is there is not enough power in the BOB to pull the circuit closed that's why I used the Ground as the trigger. hope this helps?
@mckymn5 жыл бұрын
@@cncmetalworks thats what i was thinking it would do it would be like it pulls the trigger for you and i figured with a laser board there should be enough power to the laser part to activate the relay

I've got my 3 laser connecter wires (-,+, pwm) on the relay . I've got the 2 plasma trigger wires on the NO & NC. The led is lighting up at the right time but the relay isn't closing idk why
