As a learning Freecad user for 3D printing this is a great addition. Looking forward to using my little CNC soon with your help - Many thanks

Awesome. Im glad you are doing these videos. I want to start using freecad for some cnc stuff. It's good to see others doing it. Cheers. 🍻

Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. Would be great to see additional tutorial on how to use compression bits (like for plywood) on hobby machines where it is not possible to make full depth cut in one go
@opensourcecnc2 ай бұрын
I will make a video about that. Until then: I would set an extra offset of 0.5 mm, make the cut in several passes, then make a full pass without the offset. This means that at the last pass it only cuts 0.5mm deep, which any machine should handle
@alexey_sychev2 ай бұрын
@@opensourcecnc What about first pass where it needs to cut deeper than up-cut portion of the bit (to engage down-cut part for clean surface) ? Separate operation?
@opensourcecnc2 ай бұрын
@@alexey_sychev I would use either a separate operation and a separate downcut bit, or a bigger offset to get a clean cut in the end. And, if the offset is bigger than 1/4 of the bit, make two passes with half the offset

Fantastique tutorials! Thanks!! I resumed my CNC machining with your videos. On the Marlin Post Processor, there is many mistake I noticed. If somebody could point me to where to report them, that would be appreciated.

@@Projet519 Hello! Glad the videos were helpful. I'll make a video about reporting bugs and errors soon

Hello, I am a furniture manufacturer. I am looking for a free open source alternative to alphacam. I see blendercam and freecad for this. it is very easy to model in blender, but I think there are many bugs in the glass part. Freecad is great with features such as nest, sheets, glass, but I think modeling is difficult. Is it possible to get the cutlist and gcode of the cabinet we modeled in freecad in more than one piece? I couldn't find a source to make the 3D model ready for cnc. Do you have any other suggestions? Also, is it possible to access the post processor script for your machine? Your videos are very useful, I would be very happy if you share information for furniture makers on this subject. Thank you.

Hello! I am planning on making a video about parametric cabinet making in FreeCAD. But it will take some time, as it's a pretty complex process

When i dress a contour path with tags, they do not translate to postprocessed gcode, any ideas?
@opensourcecncАй бұрын
But do you see them? As in the green lines that show the tool path? If not, try moving them a little further from corners,. If you can see them, I would try to change the post processor to see if they are there
@tibrАй бұрын
@opensourcecnc dont know what happened but i fixed it by recomputing the dressup again before postprocessing it! Thanks for the helpful videos!

Have you noticed that machine cutter compensation has been removed grom freecad making it useless gor real shops that have to maintain real tollerances? It was there and working in .2, but i got 1.0 and tealized its a joke if they removed or hid or made unaccessable g41and g42, guess no shop can ever sharpen cutters changing its diameter and no vompensating when the new end mills you buy are five tens smaller than exact. Freecad was really stupid to remove it.
@opensourcecnc21 күн бұрын
I didn't notice, as I never used it. I change the diameter of the toolbit and that's it, I don't see why I would use another command when I can simply avoid it...
