I know that gear was expertly cut in half particularly if the cut was done with a torch " freehand" etc...

I would love to know how long it lasted before they had to replace the chain. There were no measurements taken to ensure the broken teeth ended up at the same distance from the center of the hub as all the other ones, this difference will cause more friction on the chain because the engagement is uneven. They shot the balance all to hell with the three pins and two bandaids. If you stop the video at the 31:02 marker you will see the cutter is skipping areas around the sprocket, this means the teeth tips are not aligned centered because of the lack of precision when drilling the holes for the pins. The process was all wrong for this repair. Should’ve left the mating faces without grinding, put them together and tack them in place. Preheat the sprocket then weld two pieces of metal across the break on one side and then the other. Grind the bevels along the crack, preheat again, then weld one side; repeat this process on the other side. This process would have ensured that: 1. The teeth were corrected positioned to their original locations. 2. That all teeth were concentric and their tips aligned. 3. This would have provided a 100% penetration weld across the whole crack, which would be a stronger repair.

This isn’t going on a space ship. Chains have ample slack and probably spins very slow so should last a while.

Un lindo detalle cosmético; sería un poco atrevido poner esa pieza a funcionar a plena carga, la probabilidad que se quiebre está ahí y no se va ir!... 😮

Amazing job! You really take Great Pride in your work. I really don't think it will hold together long term, but again if you can't get a new part, this is the best option. Their's alot of torque on that final drive, for any Dozer Hopefully it holds together. Either way you do amazing work, your very talented, great video!

Also eine fachgerechte Reparatur ist in meinen Augen was anderes.

Sprockets do not crack in this way. Sprocket was cut this way only to make video about repair, and after "repair" it is going to scrap beacouse internal splines are worn.
