Robots are anthropomorphized because they're being adapted to augment human tasks. It's ergonomics retrofitted for human-centered manufacturing, warehousing, order fulfilment, etc. It's also more universally applied, as opposed to industrial automation which is engineered for specific tasks in mass production.

I just wish they'd give them obvious robot-sounding voices instead of trying to make them sound like normal humans. That's ridiculous. They're not humans, so why give them human voices? Give them synthetic-sounding voices, so that it's clear that it's the robot speaking and not just a recording of someone. Yes, understand that the robot is actually formulating its own sentences, but that's not the point. It would just be way more dope to have them speaking like sci-fi robots (but not C3P0). It would be more in keeping with what they ARE... which is machines.
