wow look at all the comments here. People don't like a strong, confident, smart woman and on top of that she's black. Tyra is amazing. I get exactly where she's coming from. I don't think she's arrogant or rude or whatever else people say about her. She's just a confident person and she doesn't care how she comes across to people so she says whatever she wants. I wish I could be like that.

I hate that he says that she's intimidating they say the same about Latinos as well it's because those of us that are successful and minority are called intimidating because they are not the normal white successful show.

Their facial structures are similar. Both have a thin face and a long nose. And of course, that haircut. Definitely a resemblance.

@rmsolympic1 i disagree about the word 'intimidating' being demonizing. in fact, i'd say that it is a bit of a compliment to the person that is 'intimidating' and at the same time, is the other person admitting that they are not as strong or sure of themselves.

*sigh* ..The description of this video is misleading. Tyra Banks, herself, never said that men perceive her as intimidating. PIERS MORGAN was saying that to HER. She was surprised at that notion.

she's so annoying. she's pretending to be nice and polite but you can see sarcasm behind her words. bye
@rmsolympic113 жыл бұрын
@sydandtaytum I guess not. Most often, personal conntations aside, the word has a darker, rather than a sunnier, more positive shade of meaning, having to do with something or someone who creates some apprehension in a person. Anyway, Morgan is saying that she is ' scary, ' an amazon of the mind and the body-but also that he finds that aspect (or his notion of it; I don't find her intimidating) of her sexy.

@rmsolympic1 sorry, not quite sure why it is an insult to call her 'intimidating and it is sexy.' he is saying it in a positive manner here. i understand what u mean that it CAN be a negative word, like 'the detective intimidated a confession out of the suspect,' but in modern usage it is not a positive or negative word. i think it is your experience w/ the word that makes you feel it is a word with negative connotations (since u say people have called u that in the past).
@rmsolympic113 жыл бұрын
@sydandtaytum Actually, I said that he was using the word in a kind of positve way; he is certainly saying that he fnds her intimidating - scary, as is usually the meanig of th word - and that he finds her kind of scary attractive. Anyway, what makesme feel that the word means something that causes concen or fear is pretty simple: its actual definition, not personal experiences, positive or negative. Have a nice night.
@sydandtaytum13 жыл бұрын
@rmsolympic1 i guess that goes to your own bad experience, then. personally, i use the word 'intimidating' out of admiration. as in, 'my professor is such a genius; i'm too intimidated to talk to him.'
@sydandtaytum13 жыл бұрын
@rmsolympic1 i guess what i was trying to get at was that the next time someone calls u 'intimidating', maybe you should think twice before taking it negatively. it is all in perception. i do believe it is your personal distaste for the word that made you have such a visceral reaction to this video (your original comment tells people to kiss ur ass) and make it into a white man/black woman power thing, which it so obviously is not. the definition is 1) to cause fear, but also 2) to overawe

No, she doesn't have a British accent, it is a cheap street L.A. American accent.

@rmsolympic1 judging by your attitude in the original post, i could tell u had a hard exterior so u always feel like people are going for the insult instead of compliment. i was merely trying to tell u maybe it ain't all bad. but excuse me for trying to give u a better disposition on life.
@rmsolympic113 жыл бұрын
I o't find her imidating. I've been told that I am, though. Anyway, I hate that word; it's just a way of being demonized, often not because you said or did something wrong but rather just because someone would like to control you but cannot. Kiss my iron buns: I don't care. Anyway, this guy jst likes the idea (r) of being dominated by a tall, sexy, Black (oops, I mentioned race) woman.
