My prayers go out to all the people in LA, especially those who have lost their homes and/or businesses. I experienced the worst fire in Canada’s history (2016 Fort McMurray, AB), fortunately we did not lose our home but so many did. It’s a horribly traumatic experience especially for children to flee/evacuate a wildfire that you actually had to drive through to evacuate. It did not occur to me to criticize the wealthy who lost their homes. If you have not experienced this you have no idea how devastating it is to lose your safe place where you raised your children, some may have lost their pets, treasured family pictures and mementos. I have read such horrible comments from people that it’s heart breaking. I hope all the citizens know there are many in the world who are praying for your safety and for weather to aid the firefighters. May they too remain safe and able to return to their loved ones.🙏

I used to live in the Santa Susana pass in the eurly 70,s. I remember watching all the homes around me going up in flames. I will never live in the mouth of a wind tunnel again. I watch the Spon Ranch burn down. A cleansing after a horrific murder. The valley is notorious for this. Every time the Sant Annas start to blow, the pyros come out. I hear they arrested 2 arsonists. And, keep them on. All at the same time. Same effect as having 5,000 fire fighters across 1,000 square miles using the same 4 million gallons of stored water. the same amount just about every urban areas stores. Including yours. That big water tank in your neighborhood only holds one million gallons. How many does your city have? And, no, you cannot use the ocean. How do you power pumps that require 240 volts of electricity when there is no electricity? Generators? Brilliant. The autoignition temp of gasoline is around 536 degrees. You don't need flame, you need heat. At 536 degrees, a gas can becomes explosive. A wild fire burns at roughly 1000 degrees.

Rain is not always a good thing directly after a fire. the land is scoured by the rain so you end up getting issues with mudslides, and ash and other toxins getting into the water supply. Hopefully the winds will die down so they can contain the fires until they burn out.
