As we hadn't been to the local co-op since January we thought it time for another visit, and as Lidl is right next door if would have been rude not to do both, right?

Thanks to those eagle eyed viewers who noted the clearly vegetarian label on the ketchup crisps, which is clearly visible in the vlog, and why we always say to check your labels. :) x

I am so grateful I spent a few pounds on a children's plastic magnifying glass to go round my neck. It makes reading the labels so much easier They are sold in Germany as "nature magnifiers" so children can go hunting in the garden for insects but I wear mine going shopping to read the small print.

I’ve said this before, UK stores are far better than the stores here in the states. Product and prices (even with conversion rates). Making a big salad for lunch and then a huge pot of veggie sauce for spaghetti, hopefully tide us over for a few days. Being retired now, I look for more bargains. I’ve found one grocery that marks down their mixed veggie bags and I can freeze or make into stir fries or sauces. Also going to start making veggie/bean burgers. Can make a big batch and freeze. So sorry to “waffle” on, as I’ve heard said. Have a good weekend, take care.

It's really remarkable, isn't it? We have a few flagship vegan companies, but because we're not by-and-large a vegan-friendly society there's little competition, and the UK, which is a vegan-friendly society, has just blown right past us with their number of vegan-friendly brands and products in just a few years.

If you don't grow veggies and are able to I suggest growing beans and courgettes, both are super easy to grow, produce loads and you can freeze them for the winter months, great way to keep costs down.

@@debbiepalmer1094 we live in Southern California, but our yard is under a canopy of trees (we live in a canyon). It’s great for shade from the heat, but allows for very little sun. In the long run, it’s cheaper to buy veggies from the farmer’s market.

Ah it wouldn't be a Friday without you know a TVG mini shopping vlog 😂. Thanks guys. Co-op really is a post code lottery depending on size of store and which co-op society the branch is part of. All of them in my town are rubbish. When I do get to call in at a "good" co-op I usually get the Gro sausages, yoghurts, cookies and frozen burgers as all really nice

Maybe a manager from the Co-Op watched your last shopping vlog there and thought they can do better? I have no doubt you have some influence at your local shops as your channel grows. Lidl do seem to knock it out of the park, as we say, especially with pricing. Enjoyed this vlog, guys; thanks for posting 🙂

Morrisons do soya milk for 50 p, I'm going to give it a go, sainsburys cheapest is now 80 something, they did reduce the price, then it went more exspensive again, costing more than ever

@@moosky7344 The Morrison's 50p one isn't fortified, which I think is a shame - you have to go up to their next priciest one (I think £1.10 or something?) to get the added vitamin B12 and D, whereas the Tesco and Lidl 50p ones are fortified. I do take a B12 supplement when I remember but am bad at that so prefer fortified for a belt and braces approach.

I also wanted to let you know, that myself and travelling buddies are going to Beck Hall, which I am beyond excited about. I wouldn't have known it existed, but for your video.

Brilliant trip out, ready meals in co-op are good, had that pasta nice heated and cold. Saw you saw same sort of sandwhich Jason tried from Boots, gro yoghurt are both nice Some things depend on the size of co-op and what they have, few around me do different things, Do wish they did more Gro stuff as nice pasty online Lidl does depend on what you can get

Thankyou for another interesting vlog. I've not seen a bigger Co-op store in years, they seem to all be small , with limited Gro stock. It's good to know they have the vegan donuts and loaves, though. Lidl definitely worth visiting often. I was gutted that they only had vegetarian tortillas, I take it the vegan chickpea one was just for meat free week. inspired by Jason's Boots meal deal, I got one of them bhaji sandwiches on poppy seed bread to try. Thanks loves. ❤💜

I think lockdown wrecked all the vegan sandwich options. I was working in an office during spring 2021 and both Boots and Sainsbury's had several excellent vegan options they went on to drop. Things like vegan sausage and egg. I switched to fully remote work like a lot of people. Less demand.

The co-op near me is terrible for vegan food, only has a few linda Mc products, some over priced veg and far more expensive than anywhere else milk, no cheese, butter or yoghurt, Lidil was great during meat free week, seems to be quickly going back to its usual stock of almost nothing vegan, Linda Mc sausages that were it in the freezer, come on Lidil, you did great for a few weeks during meat free, now you've let yourselfs down, keep some items in all year round please, I'll say it again Lidil and co-op worst shops for vegans. I get most of my stuff from Aldi with a few bits from Morrisons, morrisons have a good range of cheese, but I do like Asda, great range of vegan stuff, I always pop in if I'm near one.
