This video will train you to increase your CO2 tolerance through breath holds. We will do six rounds of 0:45 breath holds. Breathe diaphragmatically when you hear "recover", and hold your breath when you hear "hold". It is always advised that your breath holds stay under or at 50% of your max capacity. This video assumes that your max capacity is at 1:30 minutes.
Entire playlist here: bit.ly/trainyourbreath
The benefits of breathing exercises include:
- encouraging belly breathing
- encouraging nose breathing
- calming your mind
- reducing stress & anxiety
- increasing CO2 tolerance
- increasing O2 uptake
- longer breath holds
- expanding lung capacity
- mastering your mind
- entering a meditative state
Happy training!

I started with a 40 second max hold. Practiced daily and reached a 1 min. Hold with your 30 sec video.. then jumped into this one (45 sec.) Now i have been doing this for a 1 and a half month now(daily) ... but my growth has stuck to 1min. 45 sec. Max. Hold. Sometimes even 5-10 sec. Less. Can you help me out to get out of it. Any suggestion would be great😅

Absolutely. First off, amazing work getting up from 0:40 to 1:45!!! When it comes to breath holding there’s a lot of mind work that needs to happen. Removing language like “stuck” helps change the mindset around goals and hitting numbers to embracing the process of building trust with your body. Your job is to calm yourself with control. So doing body scans when you’re close to the end range and making sure all of your muscles are as relaxed as can be. Also showing your body control when you inhale and exhale, making them slow and quiet. If you’re already going slow, can you go slower? Elongating your exhales compared to your inhales also help. Breathing deep into your belly is also key. The last thing I’ll say is, before the max hold, fill up your lungs only to 70-80% capacity, not 100%. When you fill up completely before the hold, there’s a lot of pressure on our ribs and lungs, which creates more discomfort. I tell myself, my job is to stay calm and in control. You can also take some breaks since you’re doing it everyday. You can also attempt the oxygen training video (on a different day) because that helps train a different component of breath holding. Hope that helps! 💪 🫁

This is amazing. However, I have a query to make. I'm an aspiring vocalist. I can hold my breath for 100 secs but while singing I cant sustain on a note with precision for more than 20 secs. I need at least 30-35 secs. Any refined approach for singers who has to take a quick breath and sustain singing for 30-35 secs at a go?
@ShoshinShow
@ShoshinShow 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I’m not an expert on this so let me walk you through my thinking and logic. When you sing, you’re exhaling through your mouth automatically. So the reason you’re noticing a big gap between your breath hold and singing note hold (100 vs 20) could be because you’re working your lungs differently. This exercise will definitely help you strengthen your lung capacity but I think it could help you if you practice holding your breath on empty lungs (or ease in by holding on 20-40% filled lungs). It’s going to be super challenging (I personally have not trained this way) but after about 10-15 sessions you should notice a quantifiable difference. All the best!!

I will keep these suggestions in mind and practice accordingly. will come back here or write to u in Insta(just followed) after 15 sessions or so. I see you are here for quite a while and you definitely deserve a lot more. I dint skip the ads on your vid. This can improve the life quality of the people. If you wish to grow here, you may wanna dig a bit more on KZbin Algo, Search engine optimization (SEO), competitive Keyword, captions, and some call-to-action within your video etc.... thanks!

First try with an oximeter. After 2:00 O2 down to 93%. How low can the O2 level sink or should?
@ShoshinShow
@ShoshinShow 2 жыл бұрын
This is one of the few times our oxygen levels drop. Without breath holds, oxygen levels should stay quite high (97% or more). There is no right answer for this. Freedivers for example have blood oxygen levels that go waaaay lower when they dive on a single breath. It’s important to tune inwards and understand your bodily cues. This comes with practice and repetitions. If you’re feeling lightheaded, stop. Try again later.

When we have to hold do we breathe in air and then hold or do we breath out completely and then hold ?

That depends entirely on you. Think of this as any exercise. So for example, if you recently started running, take it slow, rest in between sessions and build up over time.

How heavy do you breath? Is it normal breaths or deep breaths in the belly?
@ShoshinShow
@ShoshinShow 2 жыл бұрын
The overall goal is to be calm, relaxed and in control. You can breathe deep without breathing heavy. Normal breaths also work. You’ll find your own rhythm - no need to force anything. Diaphragmatic/ belly breaths are ideal but not mandatory.
