Everything I was hearing out of camp in 2022 was Mason, looked the better of the 3. Trubisky was awarded qb1 because of his contract and Kenny was given qb2 because of his draft selection and eventually qb1. There was never a competition

He did and he was dealing with a unfair advantage of the fact they drafted a guy high so there was a need to play him and they also brought in Trubisky for 8 million to start for us so Mason was dealt the short end of the stick and didn’t get a chance until it was absolutely no choice. I thibk this year there will be a real opportunity because you can’t pull the wool over your eyes for too long. You have to accept mistakes Pickett was a mistake and this will be his last year to prove himself and he will not have a long leash

He and Mayfield were elite, but Mayfield edged him out in the eys of scouts but it wasn't like Rudph want on teams radars as going earlier. Pickett was a far stretch and had no business goof in round 1. Tomlin is full of (s)HIT with his competition comments. Rudolph has always out performed the others guys and you are correct, it was treated as a business but unfortunately on that has a bad business model. You wanna make the most money in business you take care of the ones who make you the money.

Pickett is Tomlin's guy...it doesn't matter why he doesn't care for Mason. I called for Mason to get a shot after Ben retired, they said they had a "first round grade" on the guy. But it really doesn't matter...once they drafted #8 in the first round (terrible mistake imo) they had a plan, and those plans don't include Mason

This past season has given Rudolph the boost to his free-agency value that he’s needed. My guess is that if Pittsburgh doesn’t offer him substantially more, he will be leaving Pittsburgh if a valid offer is made. He was only signed to this past year and making $1,000,000 for it. I think he’s a valuable asset to any team and is better than several starters out there. He’s good in the pocket but he’s a great team leader as can be seen by how both the offense and defense respond to him. Several interviews by members of the team support this as well. It’s a tough call no doubt. Mitch Trubisky is making $19.4 million (could increase to $33 million with incentives) for a 3 year deal. Rudolph has out performed Trubisky.

He is constantly playing scared by taking off out of the pocket even when the protection is there. Stares down and misses a lot of wide open wrs. And is very fragile at the QB spot... With the people we have on offense Mason is the better fit.

See where you're coming from he had a shot. But looking at how he's developed over the last two years playing third string has allowed him to process things faster. Think about it he's had to manage opposing offenses so the defense could get a good look. You do that after two years things slow down because you're always having to learn a new offense, and two you have to process faster to learn the other teams offense to give the defense a good look at going to the number 1 -2 and 3rd option. Pitcket was the first pick in the draft for them. They had to give him every opportunity to prove himself. It's clear Rudolph has a better pocket presence. He'll stay in the pocket . Pitcket will throw from the pocket, but he bails out too quickly, and therefore Misses key open receivers.

You've got to take into account that Mason wants to play in the NFL, where else would have the pieces they have in Pittsburgh where he could have success and they want him. The Rooney's resigned him when no one else was interested to a 1yr deal. That being said he may only sign a 1yr deal again so if he does start and has success he can then test the waters after a full season in the free agency market. That what I would do, get some more money and see if I can sustain to get even more.

Let me clear it up for you!! It’s Mason Rudolph!! He knows the system and can read the field and get through his progressions quickly and get the ball to the open receiver!! Mason Rudolph also throws deep and mid field which makes the defense play the entire field and not just crowd the line of scrimmage and blitz every play for 4 quarters!! That’s why the run game all of a sudden was working well!! It’s Mason Rudolph!! Players were open even with Canada but Kenny one read Pickett didn’t see them!!

So let's see....what we've seen in games that count - 4 playoff types games from Rudolph ( 3 on the road and 2 of those in nasty conditions) isn't good enough or tells you enough about a starting QB like 3 preseason games would - with vanilla defenses and players resting?
