Here’s my classic mini so far, I’ve put on 13 coats of paint including primer and undercoat,all put on with a 3” brush. Using coach enamel paint! Why not join our club (coach painting old cars ) on face book

Fantastic! Planning on painting my Lambretta using this method so this is really helpful. Interested to see how the paint does in terms of scratch resistance, how tough it is, how it looks once waxed and also how do you manage Petrol resistance when filling up? Great videos and keep them coming
@2194steve4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, it’s quite tough in terms of scratch resistance, if you wipe the spill of petrol it will be ok,

Excellent videos Steve, you really are a pro at this! Could you explain how to properly clean/reshape brushes? I'm trying to to the same on my MG but in-between coats my brushes clump and make brush marks more apparent, even when cleaning with white spirit (enamel paint), cheers!

Hi Thank you for watching glad you like the videos, I wash my brushes out in white spirit then a warm soapy wash with fairy liquid or similar make sure they are rinsed well,then leave over night and they should be as new. Never leave the brush in paint or the white spirit because it will ruin your brushes in no time. Hope this helps 👍

@@2194steve cheers, do you put them back in the box to reshape them that's the other bit of advice I had
@2194steve2 жыл бұрын

Hi, excellent job. did you have to cook the paint with lamps to harden the paint?
@2194steve2 жыл бұрын
No Gavin just let it dry naturally over night, ready for the next coat.

I can't tell-- does the finish result in the sun look like it was spray or brush painted? You don't add hardener to the paint? So, you are painting car paint? I wonder what is a comparable car paint in the U.S. -May 10, 2024

Hi all the information about the paint, tricks and shortcuts are in the videos from start to the finished project. The car looks sprayed in any light

Steve - the Mini is looking great. I'm coach painting the wings of a pre-war Austin 7 at the moment. Your videos have been really useful. Currently I'm getting a lot of dust particles in the top coat despite careful preparation and using tack cloths. Any ideas? Also how do you clean your brushes so as to minimise dust particles?

I have had the same problem,the only thing I did to try and solve the problem,was put up a tarpaulin round my carport! It helped a lot. Brushes I was them in white spirit, then soapy warm water. Thank you

Hello from Romania 🇷🇴 Steve ! I have a 97 Camaro, and i am getting it ready for painting. I sanded the car, it's not complete yet, but i would like to paint it by hand. Did You use a brush ? What kind of brush and what kind of paint did you use for hand painting ? And how many coats ? And how did you use to make shine like that ? I am debating în spray gun paint and by hand. I would really apreciate some info, because i asked that guy John Barner the coach painter, and he said i can ! But he does boats, and i want infor from a guy that did it in cars to! GOD BLESS FROM ROMANIA 🇷🇴✝️🇺🇸 GOD

Great job steve , when you warm the paint are you able to reuse any left over paint or discard it ? Many thanks , Don.
@2194steve4 жыл бұрын
Yes Don you can reuse the paint,just make sure it’s got a good lid and it will keep. Thank you for the Question

Top job Steve! When it’s finished can it be polished and waxed like any other paint job?
