Jason introduced me to rowing as my very first coach, and played a massive role in creating the environment in which I fell in love with the sport.
Jason was a highly accomplished rower himself, representing Canada in the Men's 8+ at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. He subsequently spent the better part of two decades teaching and coaching rowing at the high school level while bootstrapping a small business producing organic nut butters. He no longer coaches rowing, but has parlayed his experience and life lessons into three published books, as well as Your Mindset, a successful executive coaching and leadership consultancy that he still runs today.
In our conversation, Jason shares how the adversity and challenges he faced many years ago helped shaped his unique approach to coaching afterwards. It's a truly compelling and refreshing perspective, and one that I enjoyed diving into with him.
