Finally! A real boxing coach on KZbin that teaching this fundamental step with the straight right! Hundreds of people online have told me I was wrong for teaching this, and using this step to land my 1-2 in sparring (even though it was landing!) even though so many great boxers do it. I first learned it from a Russian boxing coach. It’s shocking how few people teach this simple step! That little step extends the reach of the right hand substantially. It’s honestly one of the most important things I ever learned about boxing.

Ramsey Dewey exactly! I had the great fortune of encountering an old Soviet boxing coach, landed astoundingly more right hands after adding that step

I know the feeling. Been teaching it for 22 years and still some people that didn’t get the memo look at me like I got an ear on my forehead when I tell them there’s another way

I stay coming her for training info, an my sparring partner who used to always get the best of me, I threw a fake jab and a straight right to the live that took him out and I haven't heard from him in over a month, but when he was getting the best of me we would spar at least two times a week! Thanks Coach, keep doing what you doing because idk about others but I'm definitely learning!!!!!!!

@@CenturianEagle to be honest I’ve been working even harder thinking he would try an come back stronger. I’m a very humble fighter an don’t walk around with a tuff guy attitude, BUT FUCK that bro!!! I have been beat up by this dude he MADE me become better. I haven’t gotten to spar since then which does suck but I’m not gonna let get have the last few punches of shot bro. This dude used to mop me up I feel like going at least 80% landing a few good liver shots that night I got him we sparred 12 rounds he dropped in the 6th it wasn’t as bad as I thought and I continued, kept my composure and dropped him in the 12th. We just have to elevate our game an go to the next level where we might get beat up but that’s what happens sometimes when you level up fam! And my mental confidence is on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but humble and always willing to work and learn. And because I haven’t sparred I have intensified my training. But I do want to mix it up.

What I love about your videos is that they’re quick and informative. The smallest detail in just stepping a bit w that back foot makes all the difference. Thanks for the great content.

It's the details that are important. I can actually feel that whipping power when I throw the right when stepping in. It's weird how punching depends mostly on technique than strength.

Very interesting video, shocked me this is the very same basic punching training in Hsing Yi, an internal Chinese Kung Fu style used by the Red army. Time ago I read a comment by a chinese master saying boxing and internal martial art have many things in common, I didn't believe him but now I understad the old master. Nice!

Great video coach!! Got a question why isnt the orthodox right hook a commonly used thing? & would it be easier for a southpaw to land the same punch ? Only people i seen use it was hopkins tito ko, julian Jackson ko Norris or floyd punishing canelo with it.

Does this mean that the two punch will not be able to draw power from the back foot because its busy stepping?

Hello coach, I am confused. Why is my coach telling me that I should never pick up my back foot - Instead, I should just pivot and slide it forward?

@tackywacky994 жыл бұрын
i usually find that throwing a straight while moving up the back foot restricts my ability to rotate my hips to give a stronger punch. I tend to do a heavy stiff jab and move both my feet in fast and then throw my straight. This is just from my own experience. anyone else have an opinion?
