Coach. What are the exercises I should do for javelin throw and In this video you have shown couple of mistake at first in couple of mistakes that no 1 I cant find solution at all.Also I'm 11 year old boy how many meters I should run for to throw javelin at this. It's correct to start practicing javelin in this age. And how to hold and realize the javelin perfection does the speed is important. When I stand throw javelin the distance is same and when run throw It's also reaching the same distance. What is the problem at me. Please tell me the solution and I'll also comment my throw problems at another video. From india

Do you have videos for left handers?
@coachhalley19 күн бұрын
I have coached quite a few left handed throwers. Left handed throwing is really about visual pattern recognition. The technique is not any different but the way you perceive it in your own eyes is certainly different. I don't throw left handed so I'd have to do the video with some reversal in the video editing room. One way to do it at home is use QuickTime Player or another video player and flip the view horizontally. It then make the video appear as if a right handed thrower is left handed. Here's a video of one my my left handed throwers from years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3bbe6SqapKie8k

I wanna ask you something... If you have never been involved with that, is it possible to become a good athlete at 38? (ex - runner)
@coachhalley4 ай бұрын
I’ve trained a lot of masters javelin throwers. You can start at any age but the javelin is not as easy as it looks. Go out and give it a try though. I really love this sport!

Hey coach, I have one question related to pulling back the javelin on runway When we pull the javelin should it be just straight to the shoulder or we can make it straight and then push the shoulder back to the body (Like Neeraj Chopra) I am using this pulling straight back and then pushing shoulder too much back of the body and this is causing me pain in my rotator cough of shoulder I am worried if I will not push the javelin back it may cause pain in my elbow and the power won't be applied from my core and then chest and then shoulder What should I do ...is it good to just pull back and then keep straight hand ?
@coachhalley7 ай бұрын
Chopra is amazing and can do things that more normal people cannot. I would try to be more simplified with sound fundamentals then add more range of motion and you get better and moving your body. I always liked Steve Backley and Andreas Thorkildsen because their form was simplistic but very effective. Send me an email (shalley@coachhalley.com) and I’ll send you some videos on withdrawing the javelin and setting up your posture for the approach.

I was throwing my javeline over 100ft and after a meet I’m throwing it and it’s not going as far or high but it feels like I’m throwing it harder
@coachhalley7 ай бұрын
Try to setup your posture to be more ready for the throw then throw more relaxed. Keep practicing to develop a specific skill then move on to the next skill. You’ll get better and better 👍🏻

That is a good question. I'm not sure about international purchases or shipping. Locally I use spearwerx.com, 4throws.com and finnflier.com.

Get checked by a doctor, work on your form and don’t throw hard. Consistent practice over time and you’ll get better. Don’t forget to have fun!

What is correct age for girl to learn javelin
@coachhalley3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if there is a correct age. Throwing can start at a very young age but the implement that is used is dependent on physical abilities. I’ve worked with kids as young as 8 years old using turbo javelins and bamboo sticks. I would recommend paying attention to the weight, size and safety aspects when introducing javelin throwing to younger kids.
