Even though this video is relatively old, it helped me understand how to prospect better. I am one of those salespeople who don't like to prospect because in retail there are no loyal customers anymore. A vast majority of consumers shop online or try to find the best sales at multiple stores. This video helps me with MY home business with prospecting. Not with retail.

This is really good. I found myself nodding and saying "uh huh" a lot while watching because I either do the bad habit things, like accepting when a prospect says "can you call me back later", or nodding because I do the good things, like "hey let's get you penciled in at least, and if you find that it doesn't work for you, we can always change the time/day". I will watch again, and probably a third time, and I'm going to freakin' nail it.

So true about being "in state" knowing who you are and what you're committed to and that inner dialogue really helps with the "why" someone should do business with you. Another great show, thanks Tom (and team)

Wow this was really good. create real value in people's lives. Stop thinking about yourself. Get out of your own head. Become a hero a leader in someone's life. Developing routine. I think routine can be a bit challenging at times for sales professionals, entrepreneurs, really service-based business owners. But, in order to succeed you must get scheduled appointments. and lots of them. If you don't evolve your mindset, you will have problems. If you don't evolve your business, you will have problems. And, if you don't evolve yourself you will have problems 🤸♂️ Awesome value bombs in this. Good stuff Tom Ferry.

Hey Tom, fantastic video! It's very motivating hearing you speak. Yes I believe it's our mindset that defines us and determines what we focus on. I'm struggling as a new appointment setting for a company that sells websites to businesses, so I'm going to change my mindset around. I would love to be able to book my first appointment ever.

As we met with the selling agents, my real estate agent said to me: "So what to you think of the house?" I replied: "it's OK". He laughed. Then they pushed the paperwork in front of me and I found myself signing and initialing 15 different sheets of it. There was no down payment so they gave me the key and I found myself a homeowner.

Not sure why I even clicked on this video.. I guess the title had me curious.. When I realised it was "sales industry" related, I was about to click off, as that isn't "my field", however somehow the way u spoke & explained ur points was so captivating that I stayed till the end & even became subscriber #249336.. The skills & principles are very transferable to many areas, so thanks for great content Tom..! - @Acharich

Hello. I'm working as an appointment setter for almost 3 mounts now and I still struggle with the number of appendants and with an attendance rate. This is the intro that I'm using. Hi, My name is Kyle and the reason for my call is regarding an event that my company is hosting for business in (fitness, beauty, restaurant)industry. The event is designed to show you how you can increase your customer retention and online exposure by using automated tools. Are you the owner? So a lot of them immediately say, Not thank you, not Int.. And I want to know what I have been doing wrong.

This guy is not a trainer, he's a talker. I agree with Mike Burns below. He is enthusiastic and would probably be a good sales person if not a bit OTT. His approach (if it can actually be defined) might work for him, but is not practical enough to work for the majority. Real trainers with real ability to train are more focused on delivering practical, simple, step-by-step methodology with the exact, proven words to use. They then drill that method with the students after establishing belief in exactly why it works. No one will try a technique for long enough for it to become a skill unless they first believe in the speaker and the methods taught. What pre-selling should be done before the call? What are the words to say when the prospect first picks up the phone? How do you grab their interest and attention? How do you move that interest towards arranging a time to get together? These are just a couple of the practicalities not taught here.

John Greenbury Thinking about setting appointments instead of making calls has worked for me tremendously. Focus is key. I do agree that word choice and phrasing is also important. I’m not a realtor, but this actually helped me as a Salesperson.
