Hi Jamie, I know this is back to basics but maybe some peeps don't understand the significance of counting to the bottom, also you could explain that you can wind in slowly to gauge how the lake, river bed is ie:soft, hard, weedy, gravel/stoney or a underwater plateau which is normally a great holding place for fish

Some people claim that 30gr cage feeder sinks at a rate of 60 cm per second, of course this has a lot to do with a shape of the cage feeder, is it loaded or empty. I use this method do determine roughly how deep the swim is so I know how to prepare the feeder bait ie how wet or dry I want it to be. You want it more wet the deeper it is.
