OK, I'll ask. I come from the heavily forested woods of the Pacific Northwest in the US, when one has all the cover one wants when the Poo Fairy starts to sing her irresistible song. When you're wild camping in locations this open, what do you do about communing with nature without traumatizing your fellow campers?

According to everybody else's blogs, the signage is terrible in the lakes. However, from Shap, its like you cant get enough of them - virtually every corner is a signpost. I am going to start the walk when I am out of bandages (cellulitis at present). I reccomend taking at least a paper map with you as the lakes in bad weather can be an interesting adventure to say the least. Good luck on your adventure.

Loads of people use view ranger but i have never tried it. I would take paper maps as back up. I used Harvey's strip maps (waterproof) they are good. 2 cover the route. You can generally tell where your going from a map without the need to take bearings, just reading the topography. Occasionally checking the gps to check your on route. You
