I worked for Coastal Scents and was hired by Kathy in 2009. That is her. What she’s saying is true. She was put through a lot. I saw Kathy making the products and creating the shades. She would ask us to test them. *perks* I also noticed her suddenly not being there. The vibe changed after she wasn’t there. Also, I never asked about the name but we were in a coastal town. The warehouse was just down the road from the beach.

"Made-to-measure" means something made to fit a person, something custom-made. Since it's described as "enhancing the lips' natural color", I'm guessing they're just referring to the user's own lip color + the tint from the oil as the made-to-measure shade. Meaning the lip oil won't look the same on everyone because it's not full coverage and will just give a tint to your own natural lip color. Idk why they had to phrase it like that, though 😂 or at all, really, since that's the whole concept of a "tint" in general.

I do get the ICON BOX. The box is quarterly and replaces your boxy charm. My last box was worth 464.00. I also get the boost, which is an additional 15.00. I is more luxury product. Last quarter was Gwen Stephani, and before that was Pat McGrath. 💚

I got a really great icon box including Tatcha rice cleanser, Pat McGrath eyeshadow quad, Pat McGrath gorgeous lipstick color. I thought I hit the jackpot.

I also get the icon box, I use 98% of the stuff I am sent in it and the body. I have selected items several times for my daughter so that is the 2% I don’t use. Is great for finding new things I like without spending full price, I then grab more from the Ipsy shop for cheap.

I get the glam bag, mostly for the add ons and the shop. Some of the products r super small, but the full size products r usually a great price. I don’t really have extra money to spend, but as a treat, it’s a great way to try things I normally wouldn’t be able to afford. And once in awhile I’ll find something amazing and go purchase it again, unless it’s something like Elemis or rodial, I’m not spending $100+ on a cream lol

Omg you're right. I just went to the site and not only do they have a small inventory, their prices are ridiculous. I remember back in the day if you wanted to buy affordable trendy makeup, especially pallets and lipsticks/lipnliners you would go to Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics. Ever since BH cosmetics sold to revolution, it seems they are never in stock of items and shrunk inventory as well. Going to the sites is so depressing now ☹️

Made to measure I think means it will adjust to your coloring which all glosses kinda do that.. Robert Welsh just did a video on how foundation does not actually adjust to your skin, and nothing can. It was really good.

I bought the Sephora contour stick along with the one from Westman Atilier and they were both fantastic 👏 The Sephora one was just as creamy and I can confirm that at least the lightest shade is definitely cool-toned. Definite win since I look ridiculous wearing bronzer 😢

It isn't plastic, lol. It's just milk w/ cultures added & a small amount of real cheese mixed into it. It's not enough cheese & hasn't gone through the aging process to be CALLED "cheese", but... It isn't plastic, lol. I'm not a fan of American-style sliced, myself, but it's an unfair criticism for what was once a product of necessity.

And the “government cheese” from my childhood is another topic. I I actually like American cheese for a grilled cheese or cheeseburger. Nothing melts better. When my friend visited me from USA, I asked for Velveeta. May cheese be with you.

I never bought their makeup, but I loved coastal scents brushes. They were good quality and cheap. Mine are over 10 years old and have been through the washing machine numerous times, yet the ferrules are still in tact. I'll definitely stay away, lol. 💜

I remember Coastal Scents from like 2010-2011 and the Reddit story adds up to me. I was a teenager watching Elle & Blair Fowler and I remember I wanted the palette they showed but couldn’t get it because I was under 18 and could not shop online. I kept an eye on the product through 2012 when I turned 18, but I started noticing the appearance of the palette, in videos, reviews, and the website, kept changing in an inconsistent way. Then I saw other random no-name brands offering identical palettes and realized this was a China situation. So I never bought one in the end.

I love the Icon Box by Ipsy. In my opinion it is the best box from Ipsy. I’m expecting a great May Icon box. Mainly because the month before Icon box is usually really disappointing. The April Boxycharm By Ipsy is pretty awful. So in my mind, the Icon box will be fab!

Home Bargains UK sells an Argan Oil haircare line that works just as well as expensive brands. The 99p conditioner actually help fix heat damage my hair was suffering with where the one I had bought for £20++ didn't work. That same 99p conditioner is sold for £5 on Amazon. I think they mostly sell overstock from regular brands that would otherwise be destroyed. I go there to mainly buy bathroom/kitchen stuff and coffee. It's much cheaper for the exact same product from the same brand. Home Bargains are one of the very few companies that thrived during the lockdown because many were penny pinching due to job insecurity and they are doing even better due to the recession. People who used to turn their noses from shopping in Home Bargains are now regulars.

I’ve tried the Sephora cream contour and loooove it on my light olive skin. The sheer shine lipsticks though….at least the shade I got has glitter that seems to cut up my lips, as well as making them super dry after a few min.
