Continuing our 3 day 700 mile tour on the Royal enfield Classic 350 NE Scottish coast we ride around the Cromarty Firth and soak up the views across the Firth from the North then South Souta hills where huge WW2 coastal defences were built, and we cross the Firth from Nigg to Cromarty on the Ferry while admiring the huge Oil Rigs once built here and now being de commissioned...
If you enjoyed this check out my playlist for my Royal enfield Classic 350, thanks!

Beautiful scenery Bruce, also thank you for the rich history lesson. Favorite part was the rumble from the exhaust of the Classic as you were engine braking down the hill! Very enjoyable sound! Cheers, Steve

Thanks again Steve😁 The Enfield is great on these roads! Fast enough without being silly yet giving all the sensations and thrills of riding a motorcycle in the Scottish Highlands 😁👍 Cheers Bruce

Great video of what has been my local area for nearly 50 years now. I worked at Nigg building the rigs in the 70s and building the oil terminal in the early 80s. A few people became very wealthy, most of us youngsters spent everything and had a great time doing it! I've got lots of memories of working on the rigs, like being huddled round a red hot welding rod tin a couple of hundred feet in the air on flimsy scaffolding in a howling gale! Given what we were doing back then and how inexperienced most of the workforce was, it's amazing there were very few serious accidents. Thanks Bruce and thanks for the sub, Mick

I'm sure we'll cross paths at some point Bruce, either down your way or up here 🙂. Nigg was run by Americans wearing gold hard hats, the most important thing was getting the job done and on time. They relied on us having enough common sense to stay alive while we were doing it! 😄. Bye for now, Mick

You're certainly having a good adventure. I love this sort of history . I had to go on line re Cromarty Firth. Unbelievable during the war years. The Naval guns were 9.2 inch. There is a gun emplacement at the Priory Tynemouth which had 9.2 inch guns well worth a visit if you are in Tyneside. The drone footage certainly showed the Cromarty Firth, its such a vast area. Thanks again Carl. 👍

Hi Carl, The buildings are really impressive esp the size! Be the same design as the Tynemouth emplacement being also Royal Navy, massive Guns! We will go back up in winter with the van when the vegetation has died back on the South Souta and drone film both sides if weather plays ball 😁👍

WOW, i worked at Nigg, then the forties charlie off shore and the Hutton TLP boy what an unexpected trip down memory lane. How I ended up in Australia is another story of helicopter nightmare and looking for a new life elsewhere with two babes.

I think thats why I like your channel, there are plenty of channels that cover the NC500 and Skye so it's great for me to see the non tourist parts and learn some of the history of the area. @@Coastriderscotland

@@Coastriderscotland hi Bruce That must of been before I started watching then. I thought I’d lost the plot for a while. I must admit I do like the grey you had.
