I have a 2021 Meteor with just under 12,000 miles on it. No problems what so ever. I will be 68 in November and my son who rides an Indian Scout and I are planning a trip in October to my home state of Iowa from where I live now in Texas. Around 800 miles one way. Although I don’t normally go on the highways, or what we call the interstate highways it will do well on the secondary highways. People complain that it’s not fast enough but I road all the faster bikes when I was younger. It goes plenty fast enough for me. I just like to cruise around the back country roads anyway.

Seems to be an ongoing theme with the Meteor. The sound, comfort and handling are unique. The ease of handling inspires confidence and allows you to fully enjoy your ride. I always take the long way home on my yellow fireball. Nicely done. Cheers

I'm 67 and downsized to a Meteor and a Hunter. Fasinating how totally different they are. I fitted an eb@y gear shift upgrade to both. They are very good, but the Meteor one takes all the slop out the pivot as well. Extremely happy with both bikes. Both will do the typical speeds I ride at. Even taken them on the German Autobahn and they keep up with the slower traffic and can even overtake trucks. Luv em.

I am 68 & bought a Meteor in Fireball red in February this year. My first bike in over 30 years. Being a reasonable mechanic & compulsive tinkerer It has been heavily modified, but with the cheap purchase prise I thought it was worth investing a bit of money in it. These are my personal opinions & findings for anyone that's interested. I fitted a Fuel X lite from new, as Euro 5 restrictions run these engines far to lean. Running in was not hard, but not babied either. Oil & filter were changed at 500km & valves adjusted ( they were tight). Oil & filter were changed again at 1000km. (Castrol power 1 fully synthetic). The next step was a de-cat pipe & free flow induction cover, using the original air filter. After some experimentation with silencers the best performance & sound was using the original silencer with a 2" extension welded in the back. I fitted a shorter, lighter weight stainless steel rear mudguard & tail tidy. The lead acid battery was replaced with lithium ion & a sump guard fitted. Total weight saving of approx 10 kg. The other mod's are; a modified interceptor short fly screen & two clicks up on the rear shock pre-load. This has trans formed the rear suspension. For perspective, I am 5' 6" & weigh 72kg. In conclusion, are these bikes a bargain or trash ? In my humble opinion bargain ! Easy to work on or customise, handle like a dream, built like a brick outhouse & most importantly, put a smile on your face every time you ride it. A friend of mine was so impressed that he sold his Hayabusa & bought a brand new Shotgun 650 ! Kind regards & ride safe. 😊

At 60 yo and 40 years on sportbikes I bought a Classic. Did the DNA filter and plate, FuelX, De-cat pipe and Kent cam. Best money I've ever spent. And my other ride is an '06 CBR1000RR. It's just sitting in the garage. I ride the Classic everywhere. Just wish we had all the beautiful roads in Los Angeles y'all do. Cheers from SoCal 🏖️

I have a Classic 500 and a Super Meteor 650. Both bikes are a lot of fun. It took a while, but eventually my mate bought a Meteor. He's had all sorts of Hondas and a HD at one point. The little Meteor is the longest I've known him to keep a bike. He absolutely loves it. We go off on two of the slowest bikes about and have a whale of a time on them. He's also ordered a new Guerilla 450 and is keeping the Meteor. These little bikes are far better than the sum of their parts would suggest.

Nice one Mate. I too am now the proud owner of a 350 meteor😀. And, I have to say it's absolutely brilliant. It really does put a smile on mine and, other people's faces. I've had it for just short of three weeks and, done a couple of hundred miles short of 1000, which I thought was the 'running in' distance 🤔. After watching your vlog I might have to have a rethink before I can unleash the full 20bhp! 😅.

I have the same bike, well not THE same one but you know what i mean and i love mine too 2500 miles since January and it just gets better and better i have done a few simple homegrown mods and fitted a fuel x light optimiser which has transformed the bike from a wheezy and timid yet pleasant bike into a willing torque’y hill climber and despite it now feeling a bit under geared because of the much more willing motor my fuel average which i worked out with my numbers manager( daughter) at 89.3 mpg and is a perfect all round machine for where i live in Wales( lots of hills) 👍

Being accosted by an angry Scotsman is unusual up here as most folk don't bother with all the gravel tracks. You can pretty much go anywhere up here.We don't have green lanes like down south but rarely does anyone bother you.We go to Wales regularly and Pembrokeshire national park is hard work.Rules, regulations and more rules. That's Loch Etive you were stopped at.It's a sea loch, but at the end beside the car park where the river runs in,more fresh than salty. The bike looks good and I'm seriously thinking about a RE now that I'm about to hit 60.Good info, cheers.

40 years ago, I had a plywood box on my CX500... well, actually a milk crate clad in 1/4 inch. Was looking at a pic of the bike with the basic crate the other day and I had kind of forgotten how thin the tires were for a bike that big.

It's a good bike, but for many, like me, it's underpowered. I rode it twice and then test rode the BSA 650 , and the engine and handling blew me away. If you want a more dynamic ride get a sorted 2nd hand BSA

Hey @easy4X4, (nice channel and thanks for your captions for those of us speaking other languages) Yep, under powered. I love it. I had, but found I don't enjoy, big bore and high speed bikes. While I enjoyed touring on bikes like Gold Wings, cruisers, sport bikes, the sweet spot has been sub 400cc bikes. Toured the lower 48 USA, and neighboring countries on them all. China & Japan on rentals. Neighbor south of me agrees with you on the mid range bikes and has toured with me 5 times. Neighbor to the north of me says we are both wrong and Hyabusa is the only bikes to have as a real man, and doesn't like touring. Yet the bikes you and I prefer are far from the top sellers. I'm happy they make bikes that you and I like instead of just the top selling bikes!!!!!

Strange but the Hunter is just hair more cheap then the basic meteor fireball here on the other side of Europe .. Around 4550€ /4600€ for the meteor Yes, to not give a **** how fast or slow the bikes is.. Just need to be comfortable, easy going and cheap. Think that the advertisement about all J 350 series bikes are for learners is wrong.. I had few 100+ machines in my old days.. Don't care about that in my late days.

Generally these are well made. R.e. Has come a long way and the tolerances rival most of the Japanese brands. If you read this through winter, and did the same on a Yamaha, the Yamaha would show more rust.
