You go in the attic, fish it down the wall, cut a whole in the drywall, put in a blue outlet wiring box, run the wiring through the box and run the other end of the wire allllll the way across your attic to wherever your ISP installed they’re splitter, then connect your new coax cable to the splitter. Easy, right?
@vegetaismydad53824 ай бұрын
@@webbo1021 Not everyone has an attic. Sometimes it's a crawl space or basement. Depending on the cable provider, for a single-family home, there is usually a lockbox attached to the outside of the home (usually where the other external utility boxes are located). This box will have a cable line that runs from the utility pole outside or in the ground by the street, and then another wire running to a splitter located in the home's basement, crawlspace, or attic. Sometimes this splitter is an amplifier which looks like a brick-shaped apparatus with a bunch of coax cables coming out of it and a power cord if the home has low signal.

My cable guy told me my lines were not active in my bedrooms and I would have to get streaming in order to have cable in the other rooms. I wonder if this would work for me. I truly feel he was trying to up sale me.

Only way to really know is to install the wall plates and hook up your tv or if you have a network cable tester you can use it to test the cable. I have a video showing how to use the VDV Scout Pro it tests coax and data lines. Keep me posted. Thanks for watching.

Are there companies that can come do this for you? We’re trying to connect our cable but we don’t have a coax outlet and I’m not sure what outlet has the right cable for this and I don’t wanna just cut a random cable and try and connect a coax outlet to it
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. All major cable companies will come out and install the cable lines for you. They might charge you but not always.

Can you plug the coax cable straight into a modem without the coax outlet or is the outlet necessary
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can and I have done that before. But the coax wall plate looks better. Thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

Do you just do this from any standard wall outlet?
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
This install already had a coax in the wall. The coax wasn't hooked up so this video is about hooking it up to the coax wall plate.

I just moved to an apartment and I dont see any coax wall outlet. I am not sure what to do in this situation because I know people here can get cable because I saw spectrum outside this morning. How do I go about this..
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
First check everyroom for an outlet. There should be at least one somewhere. Check in a closet or look for where a dish my attach on your balcony. There has to be a sign of where a coax was running. Keep me posted.
@SynysterGatez964 жыл бұрын
@@UltimateTechHub I really dont see one. I'm in denial that there isn't one, there has to be somewhere. I know there has to be one because I dont see anyone with an antenna or satellite and again I saw a spectrum can outside this morning.
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
@@SynysterGatez96 strange, you could ask one of your neighbors where the coax is located in there apartment. Otherwise call spectrum cable and they could probably help you. Does seem strange not to have a visible coax somewhere?!

@@SynysterGatez96 that could be the issue. They may have covered up the coax outlets during the renovation.

You have one coax? If so you can use a coax splitter to make 2 coax cables.

To your cable outside to your cable companies box.
@michaelmayfield35844 жыл бұрын
Where does the cable in the wall connect to on the other side?
@UltimateTechHub4 жыл бұрын
The cable should run through the wall into a box that is usually located on an outside wall near a garage. That's where the cable company sets up your service. That's if you have a house if you have a condo it would run to a box on the outside of the condo or patio. Thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

Assuming you should turn off electricity first??
@UltimateTechHub2 жыл бұрын
No, a coax is not hooked up to any electricity. It's low voltage so if you touch the end you won't feel anything. Thank you for watching.
