Cob Mahal Build Time Lapse 6: 6/2/23 to 8/8/23 - Roof Sheathing, Strengthening, and Lengthening

This is a time lapse video of our natural straw bale/cob house build in Texarkana, TX. In this video you'll see me and Nalini joined by my mom and my friends Natalia DaSilva, Grant Shaffer, Zae Young, Sue Harris, Jason Young, and Carlisle Washington in putting 3/4" red oak boards on top of the rafters.
With wind uplift on the roof now an issue, we wanted to brace the connections between the inner circle posts and beams, so we continued to install steel L-braces.
We also installed 5' long cedar rafter extensions to create our eaves. We got about a third of the way around the circle with the rafter extensions during the timespan of this video.
Music is my cover of Brian Eno's "Here Come the Warm Jets," by @michaeldroskemusic I thought that song would capture the feeling of triumph and meditativeness this phase of the build gave me. I also turned it into more of an ambient piece.
