They arrest him but they don't do nothing about bullies torturing others both physically and mentally. Talk about messed up priorities.
@LadyLithias
@LadyLithias 3 жыл бұрын
This is a disingenuous comparison. I get tired of this type of comparison. Did they arrive at the school, and have two crimes, but the capability of dealing with only one? And did they then choose the only one where there might be a threat of lethal action against multiple people? In that case I wouldn't blame the cops. But it sounds to me like what you are saying is that because "bullying" in general isn't punished, it's wrong for them to follow up on this case? I'm not defending what the cops did or did not do. But your comparison is nonsensical. That would be the same as seeing a cop writing up a parking ticket the day after someone shot into an apartment building and killed a child, and then people say "They can give parking tickets but they can't murderers so they have bad priorities." I guess if, in my hypothetical situation, if the town has ONE cop, and that ONE cop is handing out parking tickets the day after a major crime instead of investigating, then sure, that would be misplaced priorities. But to accuse them of being flawed just because there are other crimes at other times that may or may not be investigated.... that seems peculiar. There are many crimes that should be investigated and the offenders tried and punished. I learned at a young age that "life ain't fair" and that bad guys will get away with crimes.

@FULL BLOWN AIDS what happens when good kids who try to like everyone and just trying to be themselves while trying to get an education get tortured by cowards. Then they get bullied by the adults who should be protecting them by being told to shake hands with their bullies and that they didn't mean to hurt you. All the while these same adults lie to the victims parents by saying it was just a misunderstanding. And if a teacher does speak up they are fired or moved to a new school. Blame the victims sure... please tell that to the parents of kids who committed suicide because they didn't feel like anyone could protect them. Tell that to those who spent their whole lives feeling that they couldn't be themselves and had to be like everyone else. So three words for you...be kind always.

A BIP is called a Behavior intervention plan. In connection with the BIP plan there had to have data warranting the behavior. Hence the BIP. Also in ABA Applied behavior analyzing. ABC’s. Within the address a behavior we are trying to minimize we pay attention to the area or space the behavior occurred. The letter A stands for antecedent, this describes what’s going on prior to behavior. The B stands for behavior, note, behavior is measured by rate or speed, object used. For example, hard cover book towards someone. Or slamming a book bag on the floor. And the Letter C is for consequence. As a result to everting happening. Did behavior improve with intervention? To be clear there is a lot to explain with a couple of paragraphs. However if someone can let the young man’s mom or news know can give them resources.! There are a few variables to be considered. An IEP, a prompting hierarchy and crisis communication and more!

@@tonis204 Not a chance. If scripting is a thing then the whole family is aware. If the brother was charged with watching him then he should know he shouldn't be allowed to play that game (sounds like that wasn't a rule until after this incident). Parents have a responsibility to their children. If your child scripts then pay close attention to the media they are taking in. I have a child who in 1st grade repeated a line from Cat and the Hat "I'll get you and I'll make it look like a bloody accident". America is socially depraved. I saw a YT video where a child had to face a judge, because she was accused of being a disruptive influence for putting on too much perfume. I couldn't believe that adults at a school couldn't mitigate such a harmless incident. In this case, the boy has autism and these educators show the same level of overreach and asininity. I wouldn't place any child of mine in American public or private schools. You people have lost your minds.

@@bobroberts2371 Okay, so they charge him. If he's convicted, will they remove him from school or society? He's 12 and autistic, so he should be looked at differently. Have the principal and school officials lost the ability to call in his parents for a meeting to discuss the circumstances surrounding his violent threat? These are the things I would think rational adults would do first. Now, do his parents bare responsibility for exposing him to these violent stimuli? Yes. Therefore, they would be made to take certain steps to ensure his safety, those of his peers and school staff. You don't press charges against an autistic 12-year old. Again, I've seen too many stories of school officials criminalizing the petulant behaviour of children. Like the 6-year old Colorado boy who gets accused of sexual harassment for kissing a girl in his class. This "charge/label" was added to his file. Couldn't both parents work this out? You people have police officers handcuffing children. Again, you Americans have lost your mind.

Exactly or what he hears I think first off if he was playing this in his home his mother should also know her son I never let my son play violent games and he also get one only 1 hour because technology affects both my boys and my daughter with axciety disorders it’s emotional and causes depression and axciety and also can turn into rage and obsession my son has to be outside his room where he is supervised it’s important to know what your kids are doing it sounds to me the school could’ve suspended him for a week but felony there’s other kids that are trouble but he did threaten the school but this is a kid whose learning level is but small child so the teachers need to see not his height but understand his disability literally if teachers are not qualified to understand disabilities why are they teachers. But on the other side my son watched a teen run away from school every day so yeah it can be exhausting for teachers really sometimes I wonder if public schools are good for kids with severe disabilities where they a danger to someone and themselves to be honest you don’t know until it happens I remember watching a girl throw a big screaming tantrum in a junior high class they will always be different but the way the teachers handled was the problem and I can tell the teen weren’t happy. While not in this video, it would not at all surprise me if the child's older brother -- who introduced him to the game -- was the one who quietly was disciplined by this family. They don't want any of their kids stigmatized, so I doubt they'd say that the brother broke the house rules. It's so easy to judge when one sees less than a 1% slice into a family's life. But just like I won't judge the strangers commenting on this thread, I won't judge this family either. If the child frequently repeats what he's heard you can't control his entire world. Instead you accept his quirks, and you make sure that those in his orbit know of those quirks and excuse them through selective questioning. It's not the first time that disparate policies have ended up in a fist-fight. It's not a simple scenario, but it is important that folks are allowed to focus in on the needs of every child as a unique human with strengths and weaknesses.

He is lucky they didn't exactly treat him like they would a black child. He might not be alive for his mother to tell the tale. Perhaps now, more white people will want to see police being held accountable for their actions.

Looks like whoever’s his teacher that individual is in need of a refresher because they weren’t following protocol. If you are not communicating with the student’s parents and working with the parent in helping curb unwanted behavior, how can you press charges against them? I’m floored how quickly it escalated without the mother knowing what’s been going on. Why do you wait until things get out of hand to reach out and they did not even bothered to do it in the way to help correct his behavior. The mother has every right to expose how her son is being treated. How in hell you’re supposed to correct something if you do not communicate that there’s a problem?! Schools are becoming LAZY and are in NEED OF PROPER TRAINING in handling these situations. I understand not everyone or school is perfect, but dam freaking try to reach higher standards.
@stephwiller9089
@stephwiller9089 3 жыл бұрын
Schools need more money and supports (specifically trained professionals) to help the growing number of mental health, developmental, and academic issues more and more students are coming to school with. Obviously this case has gotten out of hand and once this issue occurred it should have been easily resolved by having a conversation with the parents and the student about appropriate language and what he should and shouldn't be watching / playing / repeating. There's no reason it made it to the realm of court. BUT parents also need to be more helpful and responsible. Knowing his issues he shouldn't have had access to those types of games. The facts are schools are responsible for a lot of children. The likelihood of this boy acting on anything he said is slim but if he did and it was discovered the school didn't do anything about it imagine the sh*t storm then. People always want schools to do more and be more proactive about violence, bullying, etc etc but they rarely give practical ways to go about it and when students are punished a lot of times there's an outcry about the overreaction or the classic "they're just kids" excuse. Again in this instance the child doesn't have the mental capacity to even be held accountable for this and other actions should have been taken but I think it's a gross oversimplification to say schools are lazy and need more training. More training is always great but who's paying for that? Who is capping class sizes so you can actually give attention to specific needs of students. At the moment you can have a class of 30 plus students with half of them on some kind of IEP or behavioural / safety plan. More and more responsibility keeps being dumped on teachers and schools. Their job is supposed to be to educate but somehow they're expected to be psychologists, social workers, nurses, and parents as well.

I’m already disgusted by the way cases are handled in court and by people that are plainly ignorant of our rights as, not Americans but human beings. If this child is in fact going to face or is already facing chargers I will loose total trust in our judicial system. I’m a mother of a son with autism and I totally understand where the mother and child are coming from. There has to be a way to protect our children from being harassed, bullied and ignored. There has to be people that are willing to educate “educated” people that handle these kind of situations. My niece was freaking out when she heard my son who was 18 at the time saying that he would get a sword and take it to his school. She than started telling family members about her concerns. Making it seem as if my son was a terrorist or a killer. I had to confront the situation and let my family know that my son was going to make a cardboard sword to take to school dressed as a superhero. Imagine if my niece would’ve had taken this situation farther? Autistic people don’t see things the same way we do. They don’t know this world is not made for people like them who express themselves in diferente ways then “the normal ways”. It is our duty as adults to give them protection. No matter who we are. Let’s go back to have compassion with people that are different and innocent such as these. God help us all. 🙏🏼

This is outrageous my toddler has severe autism she needs to get a lawyer and take this to a jury trial. And when that boy is not convicted she then needs to turn around and Sue the school for not following procedures I have had the same problem with not falling procedures with my son's preschool and I will not tolerate it this year. Schools do not understand that autistic children are extremely special and do not have I should say not all have the correct coping skills to deal with everyday life especially at 12 years old this is ridiculous and this school any teachers or staff involved in this should be fired because they're not doing their jobs correctly I wish I knew how to contact this mom because I would let her know she has my full support. As a teacher, we know that ANY threat is considered very serious and we are to report it. Threats to others, self, or the school are reported immediately. If we didn't do this, then school shootings would probably happen more often. Students with special needs do have special cases, but how are teachers supposed to know that he learned this from a video game. Only the parent would know what he has access to, at home. Maybe the child should not be allowed to watch and play violent videos???
@user-mw6jo7ql1c
@user-mw6jo7ql1c 3 жыл бұрын
Then as a teacher, you should know that you are to follow protocols. They had a specific plan they were to follow to find out bc he often scripts, and they didn’t do It! They could then follow up with his doctor to make sure it’s just scripting and nothing else. Smh. They had no excuse. They are wrong! and the mother is wrong for letting her son play games like that when she knows he scripts. They aren’t even trying to get help from a doctor for this kid. They are just cruel and want to send him to prison. That solves nothing bc he was scripting bc of his autism. He needs better therapy, not prison! I’ve heard of other teachers not following protocols with mentally disabled children, often times making their issues worse and causing more problems. They simply don’t want to deal with “difficult” children. Some have been caught via video and tape recorders. It’s so pathetic and cruel. I don’t know how someone that can abuse any child, let alone a disabled one, can sleep at night. It’s very disturbing. They are supposed to be helping them, not exacerbating their conditions and getting them into trouble. They shouldn’t be allowed to teach. Smh.

This is a prime example. They bully these kids and the kids have a hard enough time handling situations without being bullied. This is unacceptable. Who knows if the teachers involved in this autistic kid’s scripting bullied him. It certainly happens with many teachers in many schools with many kids. If anyone should be arrested, it should be the teachers that are abusing the kids and causing them to react the way they did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ6zfWSBbtqWnbM

Well, clearly, you’re not a sped teacher and should educate yourself a bit more on autism. Usually there’s an antecedent for maladaptive behavior and it is telling that the so-called teacher didn’t properly notify the parent or follow through with the IEP. Calling the cops on an autistic child over a supposed threat, knowing that the child tends to script or elope, is in my opinion, a super passive aggressive abuse of power. I hope the parents sue the school district for hiring incompetent Karens that charge mentally disabled children with felonies. Low.
