I have a job which places me as the boss of all those people at the table. When i meet my friends for lunch we have one rule, the phones are off, whomever picks it up or looks at it, has to leave. The whole purpose of being successful is to enjoy life. If your job is so demanding that you can't even enjoy lunch with your friends, then you are not successful, you just have a job which pays well, and that's completely different. Always remember the tale of the businessman and the fisherman.

I've heard it's bad etiquette to toast to yourself anyhow. And from what I can tell for centuries it was considered uncouth and classless to discuss money or business in public gatherings. Even if it was in "unreserved moments where only men were present" (Jane Austen's 'Emma'), you saved monetary talk for private meetings or when you were only with family.

Honestly, even with my actual friends, I don’t feel jealous about any of these people. I don’t get my sense of a “successful life” being a VP of company. Don’t get me wrong it is very impressive, but if your work pretty much spills into your personal life and you forget common courtesy or simple manners, then it’s not worth it. Just my opinion, no one has to agree

The struggle is so freaking real. I'm 24 and I'm about two years away from getting my bachelor's in music. I'm lucky enough to have supportive parents who let me live in their home, but the struggle is real when all of my friends are married with kids on the way, while I've been single my whole life and trying to figure out what the hell I want to do with my life!

Thats what was i thinking at your age, now im 29, my other friends who already got kids they always whine “having children is hard” or “you dont have me-time anymore” or “i regret that i got kids so early” those sayings made me think, life is not a race, just compare yourself to your older self. Everyone doesn’t have same mentality to have kids / get married. Sometimes society made them do it whether they are ready or not.
@kachi2782 Жыл бұрын
Trust me love, your married friends will be divorced in 15 years, bitter and will regret they married that person and if they are truly honest that they even had kids. Just make sure you have a job which supports you financially. Don't even concern yourself with kids and marriage of finding a guy. When you have your professional life on track and are completely independent, people are going to find you and you will just pick the guy you like. Then, be smart, don't get married, just enjoy being with the guy as long as it is good and when it gets bad, move on. As for kids, trust me, they are overrated, get a dog or a cat.

@@sitcomchristian6886 No, just honest. Most married people are miserable, kids cost a fortune (and the planet is already overpopulated) and jobs or careers do not last forever and neither does health, so why make your life complicated with marriage and kids when you can have an easy one. doing whatever you like and being financially independent. Trust me having money is far more important than having a partner or kids or even being in love. None of this pays the rent and the bills and puts food on the table.

There was once a businessman who was sitting by the beach in a small Brazilian village. As he sat, he saw a Brazilian fisherman rowing a small boat towards the shore having caught quite few big fish. The businessman was impressed and asked the fisherman, “How long does it take you to catch so many fish?” The fisherman replied, “Oh, just a short while.” “Then why don’t you stay longer at sea and catch even more?” The businessman was astonished. “This is enough to feed my whole family,” the fisherman said. The businessman then asked, “So, what do you do for the rest of the day?” The fisherman replied, “Well, I usually wake up early in the morning, go out to sea and catch a few fish, then go back and play with my kids. In the afternoon, I take a nap with my wife, and evening comes, I join my buddies in the village for a drink - we play guitar, sing and dance throughout the night.” The businessman offered a suggestion to the fisherman. “I am a PhD in business management. I could help you to become a more successful person. From now on, you should spend more time at sea and try to catch as many fish as possible. When you have saved enough money, you could buy a bigger boat and catch even more fish. Soon you will be able to afford to buy more boats, set up your own company, your own production plant for canned food and distribution network. By then, you will have moved out of this village and to Sao Paulo, where you can set up HQ to manage your other branches.” The fisherman continues, “And after that?” The businessman laughs heartily, “After that, you can live like a king in your own house, and when the time is right, you can go public and float your shares in the Stock Exchange, and you will be rich.” The fisherman asks, “And after that?” The businessman says, “After that, you can finally retire, you can move to a house by the fishing village, wake up early in the morning, catch a few fish, then return home to play with kids, have a nice afternoon nap with your wife, and when evening comes, you can join your buddies for a drink, play the guitar, sing and dance throughout the night!” The fisherman was puzzled, “Isn’t that what I am doing now?”
@kachi2782 Жыл бұрын
The difference is that when you have a lot of money in the bank you can enjoy spending time with your friends or your wife or your kids a lot more. The fisherman seems happy, because his wife or kids or himself are not sick or that his kids do not plan on becoming doctors rather than fishermen which will cost too much money in school tuitions which the fisherman will not be able to afford along with the medical bills. This story is both sweet and complete unreliable. If you want to spend your entire life depending on the catch of the day then be a fisherman, but what when you are 70 or 80 and can't fish anymore and your kids do not want to be fishermen.

Toasting with water is a faux pas and considered bad luck in France. It dates back centuries when water wasn't always safe to drink. If you're a teetotaler there is no need to worry. The beverage doesn't have to be alcoholic. It can be soda, coffee, or even seltzer.

The other day I went to a Job interview figuring it would be the same thing I've gone through since October of 2017, I get to the location, meet the boss, fill out the application, do a cold reading, and leave pretty much being offered the job! Now I have to end my recent and current employment. Whats worse is that I like my job but it's minimum wage, I have stomach issues, and can't work the way I really wish too. With the new job, part time, over 10 an hour plus daily bonuses, depending, early days on Friday's, no weekends. I should be having the time of my life but it still breaks my heart that I have to end a job I worked so damn hard to get in the first place! Oh and I didn't mention that I'm turning 31 in 8 days of this posting. I"M FREAKING OUT HERE PEOPLE!
