she is making bruschetta int his scene, it is so easy and delicious, i make it about 2x per week when my tomatoes are ripe in the summer. i like to get bread called "olive oil loaf" from my grocery store bakery--slice it, butter both sides and then lightly brown it in my largest frying pan. while it is going we cut up about 5 tomatoes and a handful of basil leaves (about 6-110 depending on size). we mix that together with a squeeze of balsamic vinagrette and some garlic salt, spoon it onto the bread slices and it is THE BEST FOOD EVER.

@TheMagnificentTrio11 жыл бұрын
The dish is called Bruschetta. It's an Italian snack/appetizer. It's basically grilled bread, rubbed with garlic and olive oil. It's topped with tomatoes, vegetables, beans, cured meat, and cheese. You can even top it with basil.

1:00 I think this is what happens when common table manners get thrown out the window; and don't say that none of y'all ever got yelled at, I can't tell you how many I was yelled at, not to talk with my mouth full. I get it's movie but still people in Europe, as well as other places see this and say "yup that's how people in America eat." Plus when you see Julia Child's character talking to her husband, he asks her what does she like to do, her response is "I like to eat." But that's just the national slogan for the United States right now😂, Plus sounding like Mr.ed.
@purpurina56637 ай бұрын
Don't get me started on how they hold their cutlery. And not just here, all American shows and movies. And moving the fork around while talking. What is so wring about good manners? People find them oppressive, I find it's just the opposite.

why why why was there noone on set who knew how the word "boeuf" is pronounced?
@Fidi98710 жыл бұрын
There probably was. I always took this to show that J.P. did not know how to pronounce it correctly. Otherwise, why would they have stressed the word "boof" so much? ;-)
@jocelynems56 жыл бұрын
I know!!!!! But I think (being French myself) that it is a pronunciation difficult for non-Frenchies to say. It's not a short "u", it's not a long "u", it's definitely not what she said, as in "boof". It's a French nasal sound pronounced in the front of the mouth where the tip of the tongue sits.
@moodforever4 жыл бұрын
They wasn’t trying to get her to pronounce it perfect ... She was saying it like any American would say it who don’t know how to pronounce it ...
@ramiahred123 жыл бұрын
It's a movie portraying a non-French, non-chef, average suburban person who isn't familiar with foreign language or cuisine terminology. If she pronounced it perfectly, everyone would probably whine all, "she wouldn't know how to say that!" I find it pretty accurate for the part.
@UrbanEsta11 жыл бұрын
Atlantic Magazine gave the exact recipe used in the film to this Bruschetta. It looks so good in the movie, so did the Pan Fried Fish.
@shpidoinkleboy10 жыл бұрын
The scenes were in this film were so lovely, but there is so much unneeded underscoring. Amy Adams and Chris Messina are charming the mess out of this scene before that overly sentimental music starts to kick in. I think a lot of directors have forgotten the art of letting actors and dialogue do the work for the scenes first, before feeling the need to punch it up with the score. I'm also rambling.....so forgive me. lol

Anyone know what the yellow chunks are? I wanna cook this dish with my bf, but every recipe I see has the ingredients listed as: tomato, red onion, basil, olive oil, salt, pepper, and bread. They look almost like diced peach chunks but I'm not sure. Yellow peppers? They don't look thin enough. I'm almost definitely sure they're peaches. I'm no chef though.... Also: is this served hot or cold? Recipes make it seem like the bread is warm and toasted while the topping is room temperature?
