So this is my latest style of Cobblestone Generator model that I've been toying around with on my not-seen legitimate Minecraft file. It's major difference is that it uses Pistons and a Clock. On my actual legit world, I have a generator with a huge clock and requires 4 lava and 4 water to build.
So this is the next level up, using less material to build similar effects and being much smaller -- you can't lose!
A few things about the video:
1) I do not recommend speeding up the clock in ANY way. If you can figure out a way to keep the power "OFF" for a longer period of time, it'll be slightly more effective. This is because you NEED to give the lava time to turn into cobblestone.
2) The method I recommended to keep the tower shorter is for those who already built the full tower. For those who originally don't want the tall tower: before activating the clock, place the Furnaces on the top-most Sand blocks (on all 4 sides).
3) I DO NOT recommend placing this in any structure made of Wood. Lava causes things to burst into flames, so unless you do extensive research on Lava, I DO NOT recommend building in or near a wooden structure.
4) I did not do any research on many cobblestone generators with pistons. So I do not claim ownership to this device unless I'm really the first who built it. If anything, I'm getting the word out there. (Edit: turns out that this is my generator. I'm the first to make this type, and the first to enhance it! Check out my updated version!)
5) If you're wondering, a single tower is extremely less effective due to improper or slow build-time. Take advantage and use all 4 waters to make 4 towers.
6) The last few seconds probably cut out. This was due to a bug upon media conversion. The other half is my laziness of not trying again.
7) I originally thought that it was a 100% collection ratio. But I remember that if you stood on top of a pushed block, you have a chance to fall through it, so I applied the same logic to the cobblestone loot. It's rare when it happens, but it could theoretically happen. So: 99.9%

I played Skyblock for 18 months, and this was my main tool for expanding the island. It worked amazingly, and I have not seen a design that is any more simple, compact, and efficient. This one has minimal needs for materials; you have to have advanced far enough to have gotten four iron ingots from zombie drops in order to make the pistons, and have to have some redstone for the pistons, repeater, and circuitry. But it still works with the one lava block and water block that comes with Skyblock.

A cool thing I found is that you can limit the height of the stack by placing a furnace (which you make with the cobblestone you mine) at the point where you want each stack to end. This does not affect functionality.

Really like this generator. I built my own and upgraded it a bit with extra pistons (30 of them) so that I could store more cobble at a time.

Excellent design - I now have 3 units working. Using Mine Factory Reloaded block breaker to feed blocks to a recycler to make scrap for Mass Fabricator. Had to over clock the recycler to stay ahead of cobble input. Mass fabricator is turning out 64 uu items in aprox a minuite. I love it, works endless with no maintance.

I had planned on building a mini version of a Cobblestone generator I'd seen in another vid in my villages blacksmith I built. You know, trying to keep things logical. After seeing this vid however!!! I'm building one of those! Nice and simple to build, explained very clearly and with no risk to my own health nor the risk of burning down my entire village. suggestion for collection: collect a few blocks, then stand where the pistons will push out more blocks. let the new blocks push you up until you're at the top of the tower, then mine yourself down, back to where you started, and let yourself be pushed back up again....etc, etc.

For the pillar coming up from the center hole (the one with the lava) I use obsidian. This makes sure that I CANNOT accidentally break that center column with a stone pickaxe. (I use those because they are easily renewable) I built a small building around mine and just go nuts getting cobble to change into stonebrick for building purposes. Also if you place a furnace over-top where the columns of cobble come out it will stop it from growing too big. (a 4-high column should do)

I made a generator that creates a 10x10 grid of cobblestone lol. I'm working on finding a way to have something break the cobblestone so it falls into a hopper then goes into a chest. Not sure if it's possible though.

Can anyone help.. im on a pvp server and for some reason everytimme i turn it on it cycles once and then pushes the stone up one level then its turning the lava to obsidian?? nothing gets broken and ive gone through it twice and both times it turns to obsidian and stops.. a side note. this is my second attempt at this and i had NO trouble at all with the first..HELP PLEASE

Well you could also make a stone generator other than cobblestone generator by putting water at the middle instead of lava and 4 lava at the corners. But this is not very useful since it also yields cobblestone except if your pickaxe has 'silk touch' I think.

Thank you for sharing the video, this helped greatly in providing unlimited cobberstones along with lava it will really help providing stones for my buildings, found btw that a great way to reach the top the tower is stacking up gravel beneath, then I can chop it does once I am down to get flint to for arrows :) a win win..

A cool little contraption. Probably would be good to have one of these in a sky fortress or clan base so you won't have to dig and ruin the land (or lack of land).

Pistons can only push so far, I think it's 12 or 16 (I'm not entirely sure). Also, keep in mind a few (like 4-5) blocks are below the ground too, that could effect the count you can see.

My idea of an advanced cobblestone generator is just making a regular generator underground, then putting a piston under where the cobblestone spawns. Then cover the space where the water and lava are (on ground level of course) And just start mining cobblestone.

so i built this on my server and it worked fine for months! now all of a sudden, it does not. Instead of pushing the cobblestone up into towers, it generates the first block of cobble by the pistons and then stops once it hits the blocks that surround the lava and go between the water holes

I think mojang should include a block which can destroy nearby placed blocks and turn them into drops. and also allow any burnable blocks such as a coal block or wood block to be pushed into a furnace along with unfinished products such as cobble and allow finished products to be ejected via hopper into a chest :) maybe even a modified crafting table which can record a pattern and eject a finished product providing all materials are added from and of 4 directions or via a hopper if needed.

The water no longer flows that way toward the lava, so this build is broken. Built this in a 2021 realm to exact specifications, and the water does not reach the spaces above the pistons.
