My two notes here: 1) The car test flopped because you didn't have it plugged in, so the phone was free floating. There was no brace to stabilize it from tipping over when the center of gravity shifted with the momentum of the car. 2) I wouldn't use this because (as already pointed out) there's way too much stress on the charging port. If they could redesign it so that it grabbed the base of the phone and kept the stress off the port itself, then I would love it. But then there goes the cobra coil for basically any other long arm phone stand with a charging cable run along it. Potentially a very tough sell to anyone that cares about their devices.
@zxybabydoll6 жыл бұрын
Perfectly well said, I was going to point out those 2 things specifically. I also would never use something that will clearly damage the charging port over time.

the frame of the phone would stio stress on the charger port
@Qblaze6 жыл бұрын
@ To a small extent, but not really. Without phones being universal thickness it's impossible to make a cable/stand like this that wouldn't have the connector contort to a degree, putting stress on the charge port and pins. If it were made for a specific phone, MAYBE this wouldn't be as much of a problem, but there's still a lot of risk there.
@Qblaze6 жыл бұрын
@ No, because if you're using an accessory that intentionally adds pressure to tiny pins and solder then you're at fault. They can only do so much to reinforce such small things.
@Qblaze6 жыл бұрын
@ A) Not everyone has the money to be going out and buying a new phone every time one of these accessories backfires and breaks your phone. B) Taking care of your devices extends their life and reduces the amount of waste needing to be disposed of/recycled, protecting the environment and saves money. C) Electronics die fast enough in most cases because of the detrimental impact electricity has on everything it courses through, so why would you intentionally take steps that have a high chance of drastically shortening the devices life unless you're testing/reviewing the product?

That thing is going to strain the hell out of your charging port. Do not use this thing unless the plug fits in parallel to the phone. Otherwise, your charge port will fall prey to flexion and it will eventually, A. become unsoldered, or B. (The most likely scenario), rip the pads right off the board.
6 жыл бұрын
naw the mettle frame would prevent that.
@compzac5 жыл бұрын
@ Hes got it right, the metal frame, if your talking about the shell of the phone aids nothing in the charging port, if your talking about the frame of the port will also be completely soldered to the board as well, look at connectors when they aren't soldered to the device and you'll see that the frame is soldered to the same point as the pins themselves, this has been the case for years even with connectors from the 60s.

CONCRETE Disagree. Wireless charging in its current form is quite frankly crap. Put a bulky pad or dock on your desk and leave it there. If you don't place the phone just so, you don't get full charging speed. It generates more heat, which is bad for battery life. And it's less efficient, taking longer to charge. When there's real wireless charging - meaning it charges in my pocket or in my hands without my having to do anything - then I'm in. But the "wireless charging" we have now is more like dock charging and it sucks, and I'm not going to use it. That said, I'm not going to use this piece of crap cobra thing either.

For the car USB test where you didn't have the USB, a better test would have been to have him hold the phone by the charger end (just the tip) whilst the same hand was against the dash so it would react somewhat with the bounces and turns the vehicle took. It wouldn't have been a perfect test, since it would also have been a test to see if it would stay in the USB port during all this, but it would at least have tested to see if the twists and turns would flex the cable itself.

Interesting product I don't like the idea that you have to keep on taking off your cover of your phone I wouldn't want to keep on doing that happy New year James hugs

Don't mean to be that guy but the connector you called "Android" is actually called micro-usb. Most Android's now days use type c.

Right! a lot of devices use micro USB it's not just Android but yeah USB type-c is primarily used by Android nowadays at least on upper end ...

It looks like the phone is secured by means of the device putting pressure against the charging port. That's a terrible idea. The connections will become loose in no time. If you're lucky, only the charger will be affected but I've seen the carging connections on phones go bad because of excess pressure on them.

the frame of the phone will prevent that but what ever floats ur boat go ahead

I hope someone improves on this products concept. I like the idea of a form-able,flex conduit style shielded charging cable but this one seems to fall a little short. I don't think the risk to the charging port of the phone is as worrisome as other comments try to make it be. The phone end of the charger has the "Cobra Head" backing plate which should take most of the stress off of the port itself unless you have the face of the phone pointed downward while on this charger. Who would use it at this angle? The limited Amazon reviews seem to indicate that the inability of this product to fit some Phones/Cases is the biggest issue. Thanks for the review!

The coil is weak. Phone weight can break the charging port.
