Danny, I just want to say thank you for all the cobra videos. I was able to install the ford cover successfully without a leak so far thanks to you. I used the same exact permatex done the same way as in your video. By the way, 1 tube ended up being enough. I couldn’t have done this without your video. You saved me so much money. You’re awesome!! I was having clearance issues with the new cover and fought with it for a few minutes. It was the rubber exhaust hangers that were still mounted on that was causing my issue. I thought it was the angle of the diff but after I removed those it went in. Was still very tight regardless. Well, I def got my workout in the past couple of days. Take care, Danny.

Danny, thank you so much for these tutorials. These are EXCELLENT refrences for work on our cars. Now we have more money for parts. The community owes you much. Thank you so much.

The bolt at 7:18 is used to adjust the camber on the rear end. Well, at least it was on my '03 with eccentrics installed under warranty :). Make sure and check it is back into the correct spot to avoid camber/toe change.

Going through this whole process on my 2001 stock cobra. Just curious, on the install did you just do the torque specs on the driveshaft bolts or did you do it to all the bolts? If not is it ok to just get the front and rear diff mount bolts and the control bolts as tight as you can? Thanks for these videos they’ve gotten me through this with relative ease.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 ай бұрын
It’s always best to follow torque specs and not smash bushings too much.
@REDSVT2265 ай бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage agree. I dug through the shop manual I had and compared to what I found on the forums and wrote down the specs for everything.

Can you elaborate on the orientation of the front to bushings? I didn’t mark mine when removed, and I do see that there is a difference in profile almost angled.

Yes, here is my video on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIukp3eQbbl0qcU

Good how to series on this. Hopefully I'll never have to do it when I do get a Terminator though.

Dude! Without your video I wouldn’t have attempted this fix... but, 8 hours later.. using the Lube Loker gasket to save time I was able to do this myself! No leaks!! Definitely need an alignment though.. Now... any ideas on how to get these cars low hanging exhaust from hitting the ground? Thanks Danny!! You the man!

Thanks. Im glad to hear you enjoyed the videos. I’m stock ride height to keep from scraping ha ha.

Did you figure that out yet? I’m scraping bad but i bought a couple of new muffler hangers from auto zone so i hope it does the trick
@motojgiveaways1451 Жыл бұрын
do you recommend doing the pinion seal on or off the car?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage Жыл бұрын
I would say on the car so you can properly put some pressure on the new pinion nut. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHnEh2CoidZ8pM0si=obMXtQR_9woEhGa2

How in all that is holy did you snake the diff up into the irs?!? I’m constantly either hitting the tie rod mounts on the subframe or the exhaust hangers. 🤬🤬🤬
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
richarcm Did you remove the front cross over mount that bolts up to the control arms (swen in the removal video)?
@richarcm4 жыл бұрын
Danny Johnson Yes that is completely set aside. My problem is in the rear of the differential. Getting it around the two tie rod mounts on the subframe and the two exhaust hangers. No matter how I position the diff it hits one of the four.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
richarcm Is the rear of the diff pointed up? I pretty much went horizontal with it, but attached the rear first
@richarcm4 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I've been going at it flat on a scissor style transmission jack. But its always either hitting an exhaust hanger or a tie rod mount. Someone else said you had to angle the rear up first. Its just weird because I can't really find much anywhere saying that or of anyone having TOO much difficulty.

Hey Danny thank you for the video, I actually just had a set of 4.56 installed for my 01 cobra (not lucky like you to have an 03/04 lol) woke the car up perfectly. No drive ability issues at all. I installed the same ford racing diff cover too. I’m gonna drop the fluid in a few hundred miles. How hard is it to drain and fill with that cover on irs? That middle brace looks like it’s hard to add fluid thru the fill hole!
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
It sure seemed tight enough that I sealed it up before install. You may have to get creative with the socket and wrench combination and a small tube. You’ll have to let me know how it goes
@riceetr12604 жыл бұрын
Danny Johnson I will let you know . Drain plug looks like cake but that fill and level plug I’m looking a little puzzled. I’ll get the car higher in the air and see if it looks easier
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
Rice ETR It doesn’t sound like fun, but just to keep in mind you can add fluid through the half shaft hole if you remove the half shaft

So what’s the verdict on fluid level Danny just for shits and giggles
