Danny what size is the lower bolt you removed @4:30 I have my IRS apart and can't remember what size it is.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 жыл бұрын
BigTunaDaBoss 18mm should be the size for the nut and bolt. Same for the upper location as well. You’ll see it it more detail at 8:30 in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5rTfIyLnq2Aarc

How'd you keep the axles from moving when removing the axle nut?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
In this case I believe the brakes were applied enough (rusted even) but I’ve also been able to put a screw driver through the pinion flange bolt hole and it catches as it spins. Just be careful not to snap the screw driver. An impact gun may be useful if you have access to one to zip it off. I would stay away from the abs wheel as it’s pretty fragile.

Danny I have a leaky seal on my Cobra where the half shaft enters the differential. Attempting to change the seal tommorow after I get the shaft out. Any advice on replacing the seal?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t done a seal on the irs, just SRA. I imagine it just pops out. Make sure it’s for the 31 spline IRS as the 99 was 28 spline and so the seal would be different
@GenAfterNextTactics5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if I were doing something wrong or not but I had to remove my shock to get the axle out. I guess that’s part of it when the IRS is still in the car.

Hey Danny, got a question for ya. On my 01 cobra one of my halfshafts pops out of the differential and sets off my abs light but it just pops right back in. Does that warrant new halfshafts? Also can 03-04 cobra shafts be used on my car?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage6 жыл бұрын
01 and 03 cobras both have 31 spline axles, so it’s a direct replacement from what i’ve seen other people do. I don’t think the half shaft is bad though. It’s possible, but I’d check the axle nut to make sure it’s not loose and the shaft isn’t falling out. My video on the half shaft will show you how to find the 36mm (VERY BIG) axle nut. All you have to do is remove the wheel to find it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoeoomyIZZVjg5o

Hay man do u have any 28 spline half shafts for a 99 cobra

Sorry, I only had the 31 spline and sold them too :/

Can this be done with the irs still on the car?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It can. I have other videos on removing the diff that also cover the half shaft with a few better angles kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5rTfIyLnq2Aarc

When you were taking off the axle nut how did you keep the half shaft from spinning?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage7 жыл бұрын
Alonzo Kincaid I actually put a screw driver through the front flange where the drive shaft connects. It broke and flew across the garage lol. I figure most people will have the IRS still in the car and can use the e brake or put the car in gear.
@alonzokincaid13627 жыл бұрын
Danny Johnson lol i guess im gonna have to take my chances with a screw driver.

Hi Danny, I will be replacing both of my half shafts, and watched your video, very informative. Is there a torque spec for the 2 bolts that you removed in order to access the shaft?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage Жыл бұрын
Is it for the hub?. They should also be lined up as close as they were for best alignment. It would be good to have alignment checked after the install as well anyway. Hi Danny, yes it's for the hub. Thanks for all the torque specs.
@03zincyellow94 Жыл бұрын
In you list of torque specs you have upper arm and lower arm to bushing to sub frane. Is that for the rear or front of the car?

Able to do video of dropping the irs while in car? Full Boogie has a video but its not the best. Just got my terminator on Wednesday and I knew the rear end was leaking from somewhere so I want to reseal it and install the Ford Performance Diff Cover
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 жыл бұрын
This video shows pretty much the process. Just take off the abs sensors (as seen on the video you just watched, as well as the driveshaft kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3OYo4Ofe8h1fsU

hey brotha... fellow terminator owner... question for you... I have about 100,200 miles on my cobra (placed all by me,... only owner) I've had a wheel bearing issue at 90,000. replaced the clutch at 60,000. and now... at 100,200.... I have an internal oil leak that discharges into my coolant. Have you heard of this? Ford tells me I need to go to a junkyard and find a replacement part that Ford does NOT make anymore (being a 11 year old car) :( what are your thoughts???
@dannyjohnsonsgarage8 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the oil filter adapter gasket to me (where the oil filter mounts to the block. Not the worst repair but it is discontinued..what is the part they told you? I might be able to help out better if I know what part they are talking about specifically

thanks man, exactly what I was looking for. couldn't get the actual half shaft out of the pumpkin, thought it could have been a c-clip. turns out I was just being a puss! rather that than a c-clip rear end.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage8 жыл бұрын
Glad it helped out! I remember the first time I saw a cobra half shaft get pulled at a track and I also thought it needed c clips (since I had build my SRA).
@cant_keep_up41232 жыл бұрын
Yea I think the first time if they never been removed might need to pull rotors and use jaw pullers to separate the shaft at the knuckle mine were on pretty good at 29k
