I just want to say, as somebody who didn't get much mechanical experience as a kid, somebody who was intimidated by a simple oil change not all that long ago, I love having your channel around. I dove into the deep end when I bought my own Terminator not long ago, and you're my go-to resource whenever I need to perform maintenance on it. Thanks a million, and please don't delete these videos any time soon!

Nice Video! very detailed. I have to do the same to my 03 Cobra. My diff all the bearings are shot. Getting a full rebuild with all new guts unfortunately. But I am upgrading to a 373 gear. It’s really nice to see what needs to come off to get the diff out. I think I’ll take mine out then drop it off at the ring and pinion shop for them to rebuild it. It would cut the cost down I’m sure with removing the diff and dropping it off. Fantastic video I must of watched this about 3 times!

Can you link me the bolt at 11:26. The 22mm for diff brace. Thanks

I just want to reinforce what Danny said, BUY A TRANSMISSION JACK, I put the diff in with the combination of two regular jacks and it was a pain in the ***. Either buy a transmission jack or have a shop do it. Also if you are putting the Ford Racing diff cover (M-4033-G3) it is even more difficult as the new diff cover is longer around the brace mounting spot and you have to really wiggle and move the diff around while keeping it level.

Hey Danny, When replacing the axle seals can that be done leaving the differential on the car once the axle is removed?

Yes, I do believe they can be pulled out as soon as the half shaft is removed.

Was it yourself or JustinSVT that has a full title boogie kit how to? I can't find it.

Justin showed some of his ftbr install on his channel (more of a channel update than a step by step install). I’ve only done removing the diff and the orientation of the stock bushings.

How did you pull the half shaft out? It feels like a spring is pushing it back in diff..
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
If it's disconnected as shown in the video, it should slide directly out towards you like a drive shaft. If you want more room you can remove it fully kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoeoomyIZZVjg5o

Nice video Danny. How much time did this take you. I'm trying to figure out if I can get this done in a weekend when I'm off work. I'm replacing the diff cover exactly like you did.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 жыл бұрын
A weekend should be fine if you have everything you need and let the rtv cure (or buy the lube locker gasket so it doesn’t need to cure). Watch all the videos in my series so you don’t get caught by surprise on the hardware and such and a weekend should be good (maybe get a friend to help too). kzbin.info/aero/PLIjr-uSYDZi4GVUMK2SdUL74fClSt4-IZ

Hey Danny, does that lead/rubber/whatever weight have to go back on after you install the Ford Racing diff cover and FTBR front and rear diff bushings?

@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
As far as the entire IRS, you can. Then you’ll need to pull the diff out the same way

Besides maybe being some sort of ballast, i don’t understand the point of it.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
If you’re talking about the dog bone dampener that goes under the diff, no, it does not need to go back on. Many people take it off. It’s designed to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) but a lot of people consider it dead weight.

Hey Danny! I just purchased a 1998 Cobra! The previous owner had a bad engine. So he had purchased a 01 Cobra Motor to go in it. Just never installed it. So I bought it as is. I have seen you had a lot of experience in mustangs. I was wondering if you could tell me if I will have any issues hooking this up from a 98 to a 01 motor? Thank you for any and all info!!
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 жыл бұрын
The main difference will be the ignition. The 98 has coil pack and ignition wires as you’ll see in my 98 Cobra series (I’ll add a link below). In 1999 Ford changes to a coil on plug design where each coil pack goes onto the spark plug. You may need to swap the top end items from the 98 cobra engine over to the new one (or look into a coil on plug swap).
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Hey thanks for the fast reply! I don't have the old motor. So I would have to do the coil on plug swap any recommendation on what to get? Thanks again!
@dannyjohnsonsgarage5 жыл бұрын
Seth Lapp You’ll have to find a write up on line to know if you can plug the main harness into the computer or if you’ll also need a 99/01 Cobra computer.

Hey brother, just curious what rear mount you're using on the diff? I was looking into the Ford Racing diff cover but I don't want to use the stock mount. The only one I can find is from FTBR and it's milled for lowering the diff which I don't plan on doing.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
I am just using the stock one.
@ikramnanlawala48434 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage have you done any of the irs bushing upgrades such as FTBR or MM? I have heard that there are benefits to the lowering mount from FTBR and the Ford Racing diff cover milled for lowering from them as well, such as better drive line angle and less drive line vibration/noise. Any opinions?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
My brother will be adding the bushings on his 10th anniversary Cobra. We may make some videos on it when we do. I have heard that a lot of people will complain about noise from the stiffer bushings transmitting through the car
@ikramnanlawala48434 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage definitely consider making a video. Your videos are very informative. I'm shocked that people find it noisy after the upgrade, I find it noisy stock. Lol
@dannyjohnsonsgarage4 жыл бұрын
@@ikramnanlawala4843 Thanks. Yeah, the stiffer poly bushings don't absorb the sound as much as rubber.
