Cobra FRS Radio Test (made on 2/24/2023) Thought it was uploaded already, but here it is. ENJOY!!

Small review and range test of a Cobra FRS radio from walmart. This radio has weather channels and alerts. It is USB chargeable, unfortunately the batteries it comes with suck. I would suggest getting better ones. Its a very capable radio though. I would consider this radio to have for a SHTF situation. When covid was on the rampage. I got a simplex parrot repeater and on my daily 5 mile walks. I would leave one radio (with and without a roof mount antenna) in the car with the repeater and see how far I could talk to myself in different conditions. I learned alot how conditions affect range. I even used this on a lonely GMRS repeater in Cedar Rapids and proved it wasn't retransmitting audio. (for well over a year no one fixed it and it finally got taken down) I always program Murs into my radios and am I the only one that noticed the new Motorola radios that Walmart is getting: first sounds great!!! and second can be heard 3 and 4 miles from the store????

The base radio I was using was an anytone at 778 uv, running on a tram 1477 4ft dual band antenna sitting about 25 ft in the air.

the radio workes on 2watts that is why two miles I dont use f r s I am on the G M R S side I work 6 citys in three countys and have a license

I am not sure, I just used the USB charger.

It all depends on conditions, terrain, buildings, etc.

line up all radios on a table put same channel in each radio then add a code to them by the way the code makes it so no one out side your group will talk to you.
