I think it’s more psychological, Johnny’s fear of being abandoned. His father left. His mother died young. His stepfather was a POS. Kreese used him and bailed on him. Daniel lost his father, but he had Miyagi.

I was bullied when I was a kid especially in middle school. Middle school was the worst. It wasn’t just physical, but emotional and psychological. I was 12-13 and these kids stole from my locker, stole a book, heckled me calling me names I can’t repeat here, prank called pizzas to our house and one kid called our house and said to my Mom, “how do you like your pizza, bitch?” It got so bad I brought a nightstick to school and was going to hit one of them if they came near me. The leader of these bullies got busted with dope in his locker and got expelled and soon after that things calmed down and then we moved. I wish I had known karate back then. I was small and short like Kenny, but I can’t even imagine being cyber bullied. Kenny is a kid I would have tried to be friends with because I gravitated towards the misfits. I would talk to kids that nobody else would talk to. It doesn’t make you popular or get you lots of friends, but it gets you the right ones. So sorry for the long message, but just wanted to share because it hurt me to see Kenny being bullied.

@7:42-@8:24 Miguel is a bright kid. It's okay for him to aim high as long as his grades are too. As far as we can tell, he could qualify for scholarships. Not to mention that him and Samantha going to an impressive academy, succeeding, and getting well-paid jobs means they'll be able to take care of themselves and each other and build a family together. Their family meal may not seem like a big deal now, but Miguel is doing everything he can to earn Daniel and Amanda's blessing in the long run. Also, let's not forget that Miguel was far more respectful on their dinner table than Kyler and Armand.

Such a cool episode. I love it how Kenny, is slowly being more confident, now with joining CK. And I identify with Terry, who has PTSD memories, I am suffering from the exact same thing. I loved it when he said: "Turn around you son of a bitch!" I hope we get to see more flashbacks in season 5, those are interesting and good. And the moment he returns the ponytail, and smiling in the mirror, I reacted like Steven, that was amazing. As for the lessons of Daniel and Johnny, both lessons are important in messages, one is dangerous and one is far from it. That was hilarious between Demetri and Nate:"This building is like 5 Nates away, and we are 14 Nates high! Please, don't use me as a system of measurement" That was brilliant. I guess this is why Johnny said the night before, he is not promising they will be back in one piece. When Sam jumped, she started to have respect for Johnny. Sam needs Johnny, Johnny can give her aggressive tools, what Daniel can't. And about the final scene, Johnny shouldn't jealous like that. I would say to Johnny: Think of this that way-Miguel is just being nice, to the one that will be his father-in-law. I mean, he bangs his daughter, so he must create a good relationship. But he still love you, and cares about you, don't worry it's all good.

I think Amanda handled Tory about as well as anyone could. Tory attacked her daughter, put her in the hospital, permanently scarred her, and then trashed her house. Amanda did not call the police on her (which probably would have gotten her in adult jail), tried to talk to her parents (but was seemingly ignored), and so found her and stated firmly to stay away from her child or she will call the police next time. She was aggressively stern, but considering what Tory did it’s understandable and somewhat restrained. Considering the circumstances around Tory’s firing, she was largely fired based on what she did before Amanda arrived and it was eminent. Amanda was unfortunately involved with the last straw. What would you have done differently? To do nothing would be to passively allow your child to be attacked (as there was a history of it reoccurring). I believe I would have involved the police. Also, the look on Amanda’s face- the same mama-bear instinct that made her go there to protect her daughter made her show concern over Tory’s firing.

Exactly. The manager even said he was tired of her attitude so you can guess it wasn't her first outburst. She did try to contact her parents and wasn't aware of her situation. She's protecting her child and in turn her concern turned to Tory when she discovered her home life.

Sam's behavior is a classic sign of trauma and I don't blame her one bit for acting the way she has been. does it excuse her for any of it? no. just like Tory's upbringing doesn't excuse her for all the bad acts she's committed. I just think it's ridiculous that people can overlook Tory's heinous acts due to her past trauma but not Sam's.

Thomas Ian Griffith hasn’t lost a beat. The scary thing is he’s even better now than he was in “Karate Kid III”. Terry Silver in that was awesome as a villain, but cartoonish and over-the-top. I like that the “Cobra Kai” writers took a different approach. That look, though, in the mirror when he brings back the ponytail says it all, though.

Daniel didn't put his nose in any business. Ali and Johnny were broken up before Daniel and his mom even arrived in California. All Daniel saw was Ali and Johnny fighting and Johnny breaking her radio. He picked it up to hand it back to her to be chivalrous, and Johnny flipped his lid. It's entirely on Johnny's possessive and volatile nature.

Amanda absolutely done the right thing and Tory got her self fired all she had to do was agree not to go near her daughter until the tournament but instead she gave the attitude and shouted at a customer which obviously wasn’t the first time as her boss said he was sick of her attitude.

Amanda never messed with tory's job. Tory never got fired cus of anything Amanda said. She got fired cus she mouthed off to a customer. Nobody forced her to. Amanda did the right thing. The threat of calling the police, is better than actually calling them. Once you've called them, you're out of cards to play, and now Tory has nothing to lose. All Tory had to do was agree to not kick any more doors in and break into any more houses. When someone breaks into your house, you don't ask if they're caring for a sick relative. (in the 2 hours a day when they're not busy with their karate gang) You unload in their face, and the sick relative is no concern of yours. I don't get why everyone's suddenly so keen to defend Tory. Let them do the damned redemption arc! One line in the script about a sick relative, is not it. They have all of season five to do it properly.

I think that she can only get away with the "my mom is sick and I work to take care of my brothers" as a defense for being the way she is for so long. That said her arc was pretty good this season.

Although I don’t agree with Amanda confronting Tory at her job, i did think Amanda needed to let Tory know that her daughter is off limits. The only reason Tory is not in jail or juvie is because of Samantha and Amanda not wanting to add fuel to the fiery, often petty enemy status between the two girls. Tory broke into the LaRusso home with the sole intention of severely beating her daughter.

Even if Amanda didn't show up tory was getting fired anyway because the manager already said he had enough of her attitude which means she was causing problems way before this incident so she shouldn't be blaming anyone but herself. It is her duty to be professional and if you are getting grief report it to manager and they sort it out.

i love johnny but his reaction to miguel & daniel is very petty & its the last thing he should be worrying about when robby is being trained by kreese the same man who abused him. johnny makes little effort with his son & it shouldnt be on robby to fix that relationship when johhnys neglected him his entire life focus on your son who is actually being trained by someone dangerous.

It is petty but it's also natural. And he tried focusing on his son for three seasons..would have been very boring if they just rehashed all that again. The writers know what they're doing..and they're doing it well

Confronting someone at work is not it. They’re automatically going to be agitated & less likely to listen. Amanda’s first move- trying to reach Tory’s parents- was the correct one. It’s just too bad, on several levels, that Tory functionally has no parents.

I so far dont like this season. I loved season 1, season 2 was absolutely amazing, season 3 was my favorite! The acting is great but Miguel seems angry or depressed, not acting like the former ALL VALLEY CHAMP, As I am watching along with you and its already episode 3 I am finding myself not getting that nostalgia feeling like I was. I dont know how many agree with my opinion but I feel like the storyline was predicted by us all to go as it is thus far and I am OK with that. However, it seems so far like we seen this storyline before and its not as much about the kids as we would like. We know a few names on each team (the star fighters) the other kids are just filler. The story so far is all about the sensei feuds... I hope the writers stick to the original recipe and dont ruin this great show.

I agree that this season lacked here and there but by the last two episodes it reinforced what a great show it truly is. They may have reached a minor slump. As far as Miguel goes, maybe you haven’t seen it through the end yet but there’s a reason why he is depressed or silken as you call it. I too hope it picks up next season

I disagree I watched the whole season when it came out. There is a reason why Miguel isn't the same this season it is because it is setting up for a storyline next season for him which I can't say is because it is a spoiler. There is a reason why all the stuff you aren't liking is happening as their are twists later on but I can't say because they are huge spoilers

@@adrianaavila8853 I think because the previous seasons were perfect to me it set my expectations too high. I have seen the entire season now I think certain things without spoilers dont need to be repeated every season. Add more Karate Kid movie cuts like they were doing was great, not so much now and I remember Ralph Macchio (daniel) didnt want to do the show if it was going to go off course and I think it is with all the kids just turning into bullies.

I know it's a show, but shows can influence kid's behavior. For that reason, I thought it was a terrible idea to include building jumping in the show. Plenty of hardcore training ideas they could have used that won't kill you if you mess up.

@@sexysadie2901 of course the parents are responsible for a tremendous amount when it comes to parenting; still, Cobra Kai could have found another stunt that doesn't result in death if you mess up even a little

It is a show no kid is going to jump from roof to roof now like cobra kai isn't the only thing that does it every show and movie that has action it are having people jump from roof to roof but you don't see people actually doing it

I can't be the only one that disliked this season. And I had a feeling it wasn't gonna be too great since they tied up most of what we liked from the first couple seasons. Johnny went from a heart felt letter about finding his place in training kids. Now this season hes got them jumping buildings and getting kicked in the nuts by a " gender fluid girl" BLAH!
