Excellent drills. Any tips on how to stay close to the wall? I eventually push myself away. Or does that have to do with the surface you're training on?
@mism28973 жыл бұрын
You're relying too much on the strength of your legs. You have to get your core into it as well.

Hi Humberto! thanks for watching our channel. The best advice I can give to you is focus on the REVERSE HIP ESCAPE DRILL #1, BACKWARDS HIP ESCAPE #2 , and LEG DRAG GUARD RETENTION #3. By doing those Guard Retention Drills EVERYDAY you will take your guard retention to the next level.

Thank you sir! Can you please advice how you keep your body the same distance to the wall? I feel like I’m pushing myself away and straightening out slowly then having to reset. What am I doing wrong? Thank you so much
@Cobrinhabjj Жыл бұрын
Hi Mars, In the beginning it's normal to push yourself away from the wall until you get more comfortable with the movements. How long have you been practicing the wall drills?
@Vengeance888 Жыл бұрын
@@Cobrinhabjj thank you so much for your reply. I am just starting out, perhaps it’s a flexibility issue. I may need to find another way to play guard without inverting. I can still use this type of guard retention without inverting?
@Cobrinhabjj Жыл бұрын
@@Vengeance888 Yes, I recommend you to do those drills for conditioning and to loosen up your hips. Do it for a moth 3 times a week and let me know how you feel.

I can not make it to the gym due to a sick family member, but I have been doing these drills at home almost every day. Thank you. Anyway, I have a question: The second drill is "reverse hip escape" and the seventh drill is "shield guard retention or forward hip escape - knee shield". These drills are similar. I understand what a reverse hip escape does, but how is the shield guard retention different? What kind of situation is "shield guard retention" for?
@Cobrinhabjj2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, first of thank you for watching our videos. Could make a video with you question and send it to us at info@cobrinhabjj.com and i will make another video to help you.

Is there any way to see how these movement apply in drilling with partner?
@SD-lf3rw4 жыл бұрын
Hey professór. Could you explain in details the difference between 2nd and 7th drills? They are almost the identical. 2nd you do with more speed and not stretching much leg when you are pulling back like in the 7th. That is only I could differentiate. But basic movement are the same.
@Cobrinhabjj4 жыл бұрын
Hey Serik! Thanks for watching our channel. The 2nd guard retention will help you with your Reverse Hip Escape and the 7th is the Knee Shield. And I use this one to not let my opponent to crush my legs by keeping my Knee Shield on my opponents shoulder.
