DW did an AMAZING job with these shells. I just bought a performance series kit this summer, and I will keep it for a very long time. The sound is unique and incredibly high end for the price. Hey, if you want a "custom" set, then spend a couple more thousand dollars!

Oh, that snare is sounding beautiful. 5:29 crash is also pretty gorgeous. 4:16-4:23 is the best bit. I love fills that end on a bell or even a crash just a quaver behind the downbeat. That pause whilst the cymbal diminishes is such a joy to hear.

Dude. A DW performance kit in those sizes and all those cymbals are exactly what I want. I like the newer cymbals you added.The new crash ride, larger china, stack and mini hats all are amazing. :)

Just for those wondering, his heads are as follows... Snare: Most likely Remo Controlled Sounded Coated (Reverse Dot) Rack Toms: Evans Genera G2 Clear Floor Toms: Evans EC2 Clear Bass Drum: Not exactly sure. I would assume an Evans EMAD or something of the such.

@cobus wow man. i honestly never thought id hear back from you, much respect for that youve made my nite. thats the truth. hearing back from someone im a big fan of has smoothed over some family drama. thanks honestly for that. what i meant this morning by selling out, wasnt so much that i thought that was what you were doing as is what it seemed, i mean your dw kit looks nearly identical to your udrum kit, so i thought maybe it was kind of a maybe the fans wont notice kind of thing.

@koolBOY8323 I was with Udrum for two years, it was great, but moving on to DW was a very natural progression and a super positive career move. I was a DW fanboy since I started playing drums, they are looking after me incredibly well and I've never been happier with my kit. "selling out" means doing something that isn't natural to you, JUST for the money or the gear. that couldn't be further from the truth in my situation.

People have been asking about the cost - I recently bought the same set in Cherry Red stain. Without the side snare and additional floor Tom it cost £1600 but the price has just gone up to £1800. The additional snare is another £250 and the floor around £350. So the shell pack on it's own will set you back around £2400. Also there is a 5 - 6 month wait due to the backlog of orders. Order it now and it might arrive in time for the Summer ;).

nice video as always cobus! just love watching you play and talk :D could you maybe post a pic of your "insert effects settings" you use on your toms? I recently got myself a set of qtoms but can´t get my toms to sound nice through them. they sound better (more sustain and tone) witthout the mics. I tried different mic positions and eq-ing settings but for some reason the toms sound absolutely dry through the mics, no tone at all (I use g2´s on top and g1´s on bottom). would be awesome!

@InstantReverbPro they most certainly are. widely-spaced, I like a very wide stereo image. you can come to DW and check for yourself ;) crazyyyyy value for money, those mics. I've used them to record acoustic guitar, violin, vocals.. very underrated mics.

@SJBBDrums yeah that's easy. either you can buy a little clamp and clamp it onto your cymbal stands or buy some snare stands and just have them freestanding. if you clamp it on to your cymbals, make sure the stands are very sturdy, the toms can be pretty heavy when beaten lol.

@CCstarworks The rack tom heads look to be Evans G2 clear. The 14" FT is an Evans EC2 and the 16" FT is an Evans EC2 SST both clear.

He didn't even touch the ride. I think that's the most defining part of a drummer's setup. I play a 20" Paiste Prototype Formula 602 Light Flatride.

@cobus just wondering if you had the same problems with the drop clutch? i had to put washers between the clutch and the 'dropper', if you like, because theirs a gap which is really annoying.

On the top: Genera hd on the snare, g2 clears on the rack toms, ec2 clears on the floor toms and emad2 on kick drum. On the bottom, hazy 300 on the snare, g1 clears on rack toms and floor toms.

I really want to know how he mounts his toms so nicely at the height of his snare drum, is it because he has a smaller bass drum (if so what size) or is it because he has smaller toms, I have tried a few things but it doesn't quite look the same, i would really just love a set up like cobus but i don't have the money to buy a kit like that, so it would be really helpful to know how to get a set up similar to that, Thanks :D

hi cobus, since u are using samson overhead for cymbals i supposed in this video.. we have samson 7 kit in our church (quite new).. do you have any suggestion how to place the 2 overheads in a church situation? because our current setup (spaced pair)..i dont think it picks up the cymbal very good (or maybe doesnt pick up at all)..especially when the whole band starts playing.. we dont have acrylic separator for the drum..since we only use mic-ing for big events where 300 or more people might attend.. anyone else is welcome.. thanks

@MrDoofDoofHead The sound of the Collectors and Performance is the same. Both are high end kit`s. But because the performance series is NOT a custom kit it is more aforteble. The only big difference is the finnish and the sizes. Performance is only the regular sizes and finnishes and the collectors series are what ever you want ;)
