Less noise was only standout & Emirates service (but that doesn't count). Also for some reason I've experienced the most turbulence on A380s sometimes rather rough which was odd. On the whole good, but nowhere near even business class.

Having flown on both the A380 and the 787 a couple of times I was really shocked at how noisy the 787 was. The windows were also really annoying, in bright sunlight they don't block out the light enough for me to sleep easily. I suspect anyone comparing the two and finding the noise levels similar is comparing different positions in the plane, the front is always considerably quieter so the front of a 787 might closely compare with the back of an A380. Studies into the two aircraft found the 787 to be around 6dB louder on average, which actually equates to being perceived as over 25% louder.

I have been on the A380 on a 17+ hour flight from Auckland to Dubai. I have heard that the takeoffs are very quiet. On some versions the takeoffs are very quiet. You really cannot hear the engines (although this may be due to seat placement). On others, you hear the engines but they are in the distance and not loud. It feels like being on a very solid and secure plane when in-flight. The takeoffs are definitely quiet and stable and graceful. Landings are also comfortable. On the long haul flights, in the front near the cockpit on the main level, there is plenty of space to stretch out and move around easily. It is a good plane. And on the newer versions of it, which I think are the more quieter ones, the power outlets are high-power and can drive a more powerful laptop.

Actually Coby talked about average occupancy factor of Emirates versus that of world average (77 and 82%). I think Emirates uses A380 only on the routes where it knows it will be able to sell enough tickets to fill up or nearly fill up the gigantic aircraft. Emirates has no shortage of 777s and is not compelled to operate A380 everywhere all the time. I have seen a number of A380s between Dubai and Heathrow operating everyday. Likewise for other major hubs as Frankfurt, etc. So, I would tend to think that Emirates gets occupancy of more than 77% on many of its A380 routes.

Hi Coby, my wife and I saved up to fly Business from Dubai to SFO on our 25th anniversary. Best decision ever! Quiet cabin, Great IFE and food. We printed special TShirts and made pictures in the amazing sky lounge!

I flew around 10 times on an a380 (Air France and Singapore Airlines). Each of them was a nice experience. This plane is so silent! I try to book on it each time via the iflya380.com web site.
@jamesmachado73574 жыл бұрын
Agreed! This is the biggest difference you see in the aircraft. The sound in the cabin is so quiet even during take off that they were playing classical music that you could hear clearly. Is so spacious and so quiet!

I flew Emirates A380 in 2014. It was the best plane I've ever flown on. The legroom, general spaciousness, lighting ambience and internal cabin noise (or lack of) was remarkable. It was soooooo quiet on takeoff, it was hard to believe you were in the world's largest passenger jet as you sped down the runway. The stats saying it's 50% quieter than a 747 appear correct. The other huge benefit - at the time we had a baby with us - despite being in economy, whe we moved around to wind her, or comfort her, the amount of floorspace around the stairs to the upper deck, and near the doors etc. was immense. You weren't constantly getting out of other people's way. It truly was the best way to fly if you can't afford business/first class. I've never felt so fresh after a 15 hour plus flight in my life before (and I've done loads). I hope to fly them again many times before they're retired out of service in the future. Such a shame the model didn't quite meet the needs of the future Airbus had bet on.

Having traveled in all classes on Emirates A380's, to me its like flying on an A350. Then the A350 is newer aircraft design than the A380. I really hate Emirates tacky cabin product in business and first class.

The problem is that Airbus didn't built it like the 747 for cargo in mind and that stupid negligence costed them everything
@Penny17544 жыл бұрын
In the 1960s, Boeing expected supersonic passenger flights to replace subsonic flights. However, the also expected subsonic freight flights to stay for a while, so the 747 was designed to be easily converted into a freighter. The A380, on the other hand, was designed in the late 90s
@louiseberdjane91224 жыл бұрын
Right now it'boeing that is in trouble Yes airbus lose a lot of money but i think that even an a380 freighter will not save the progam so the a380 is just a fail. : -)
@sparrow82964 жыл бұрын
@@Penny1754 Yes, but the 90s were well after ETOPS certification allowed twin jets to fly over long intercontinental routes. Airbus should have anticipated twin jets becoming more popular than 4 jet airliners due to the superior fuel consumption.

I flew on an emirates A380 twice. the first time, it felt cramped but I think this is because it was a very young plane at the time and people were testing what works and what doesn't. Then I flew it again from Heathrow to Dubai and it was amazing. It was so quiet, spacious and your ears never hurt. You don't even realise how fast the plane goes and how quickly it climbs altitude. In the inside, it is so nice and relaxing even though we were in economy. I really hope to have a chance to fly it again.

I live in New Zealand and have flown on the A380 with Emirates to Europe and it is by far the smoothest and quietest plane I have flown on. I would like to also mention that they were over booked and I had to spend a day in Dubai. they put me up in nice hotel and provided me with meals. What amazed me is that they compensated me for my inconvenience by giving me another round-trip ticket to Europe! Unbelievable, Oh and they also have stunning stewardesses from all over the world that are very professional and seem to truly enjoy their work.

I’ve flown Emirates A380s on approximately 100 legs, and it’s truly the best flying experience in the world. Whether economy, business or first, it’s so good that I actually felt an emotional loss when I heard Airbus wouldn’t continue the project. Quiet, perfect humidity, smooth flight, incredible service, amazing comfort. Even after a 14 hour flight - given a solid sleep - you feel good.

Flew on an A380 for the first time in January from London Gatwick then a 777-300 to Delhi, both were with Emirates. We did the reverse trips as well but with a 10 day stay in Dubai. Having flown for 40+ years in economy or holiday charters I can honestly say the A380 were the best flights ever. I am delighted to have been on it, as my 70th birthday approaches who knows when I may fly again and I am a positive person.

I have flown one once only from Singapore to Sydney and loved the experience. A week later one belonging to Qantas nearly crashed after taking off from Singapore due to a serious engine malfunction. On my flight my seat was over the left wing and I was amazed that even though we were arriving in Sydney in the morning the wing size was so huge I saw the morning light but never sighted the sun while in the air.

Flew on Singapore Airlines A380 multiple times. In the early days they had a 2+2 economy configuration on the upper Deck, those were the best economy trips ever. So much spacing between seats, huge armrest with storage below the window, no 3rd person next to you, separate gate for the upper deck, not to mention best customer service in the industry.

Qantas A380 in 2009 when it was a new fleet. Flew Sydney to Los Angeles. I watched the behemoth taxi from the hanger to the gate and was in awe of the size. This bird is crazy big. I sat in the 2nd to last row on the R side (can't recall the row number off hand but it was insane - row 70 something, I believe) in an aisle seat. It was such a quiet plane I was speaking in a low, normal voice to my seat mates. Quantas had a beverage and cookie bar set up in the back for beverages, anytime. Plenty of lavs to pick from. It was well-crewed and the service was great. Upon landing in LAX the flight attendants allowed me to do a quick sprint through the upper cabin. I peaked into FC and that was an amazing area of pretty-much private rooms (although not as Emirates). It was a great flight and I'm glad I got to fly it as Qantas is probably going to retire the fleet, or at least that is the rumor.

I do love the a380 but something you'll notice as an avgeek is that the windows are quite small and recessed from the cabin. I don't know why this doesn't get mentioned more, but it's a real bummer when you're trying to get the best views. Still recommend you try flying one, though!

With Lufthansa in 2017, from Frankfurt to Shanghai at the business class and also the route back. What is impressive from the inside is the very low stall speed when taking off and landing and also the very low feeling of the atack angle of the plane (some airplanes you can see the difference when looking something far). The camera on the top of vertical stabilizer is amazing to see during takeoffs and landings.

Flew on an A380 about 8 years ago with Qantas. It was flat from Sydney to London, with a stop in Singapore. It was awesome honestly. Very smooth. And you can actually feel the size of the plane.
