Rax enjoyed seeing the girls as he ate his breakfast. He's definitely getting bored more easily now he's in the lounge or on the porch while the baby kakarkis fledge, so seeing his American friends has cheered him up.

Not very many people are equipped to be a cockatoo parent. Especially Umbrella's and Moluccan's. One thing you didn't mention is that the person choosing a cockatoo must want this lifestyle for decades. I got my umbrella at 6 mos when I was 25. I promised I would take care of him for life. 30 years later he's still with me. We've had some rough years but the past few years have been some of the best. Everything mentioned in your video and the comments are correct. Especially the dander of a cockatoo. It might be worse than the noise. Finding someone to watch him while we are traveling is not easy as he is still a handful. I would encourage anyone considering an umbrella or moluccan to seriously reconsider. In 19 years he had never bitten me. One day he bit me so hard I couldn't feel my pinky finger for a full year. Whatever warning he gave I never saw it. Must have gotten down to the nerves. Since that time he's bitten me 2 other times in 30 years of ownership. Somewhere around year 19 I had to learn how to get him in/out of the cage. Lately we are really buddy buddy and have a different understanding of each other. Part of the growth I suppose. And agree on the destruction. He gets a new box of wooden toys shipped every other month so he has a nice supply of things to destroy.

Cockatoos are beautiful but not for me. It’s not the screaming. It’s the dust! Yes, my Caiques are professional food slingers and can be very loud but I don’t have the dust everywhere. After saying that, I admit they do have that appeal.😊

I don't feel like they are as dusty as the Greys, but I'm probably wrong... We have hepa filters and a special ionizer in the A/C for the dust...

I've never had a Grey so can't compare but the dust of an Umbrella can really be destructive to electronics.
