martinsaviation.blogspot.com/ My first flight into a Class C Airport/Airspace, Richmond International Airport. (flying Tecnam P92 Eaglet N16HV) This video shows all of the major radio calls between my plane and ATC during our flight. In-between the calls, the flight video is time-lapsed to speed everything up. I would've loved having a video like this ("How to Fly into Class C") the day before our flight, to get a sense of how everything would go.
Richmond KRIC is the airport I've grown up flying into and out of commercially since I was 2 weeks old, I was so excited to fly into a real commercial airport for the first time.
One really important thing I learned from this flight is the importance of "knocking on the door." The guys at ATC are often busy and have a heavy workload with Class C, knock on the door with approach by saying the approach name and your call-sign. This lets them know that you're there and ready to initiate communication. They will respond when they can. In this case, we were contacting Potomac Approach--they were very busy at the time.
