Yes, we certainly know how to give our lives on foreign battlefields such as Europe in WW II when Britain was on the ropes and Churchill was on his knees begging America to save the empire. Thousands of American air crews gave their lives on bombing runs over Fortress Europa so you people could bring life to Cancun.
@barrysteven59642 жыл бұрын
@@davidbarnett9312 You know, Europe is profoundly grateful for the sacrifices American soldiers made in WWII and honours and respects those men. Then you spoil that feeling with crass comments like that, which makes us feel we want to point out a few things. Saying Churchill was 'on his knees begging' is a facile way to describe the Prime Minister of a close ally where 40 thousand civilians had been killed by German bombing raids on British cities well before the Americans joined the war. Another 30 thousand British civilians would die before the war was over. Also the USA did not come into the war just to save Churchill. Europe had already been at war for two years. Britain had been at war since Sept 1939. The USA joined in Dec 1941 after Pearl Harbour. I'm not blaming the USA. Why would they want to join a war unless they were being attacked themselves? But the idea that America selflessly joined the war to save others is a bit romantic. They joined when they fully realised the danger to the USA. American sacrifices are best known in Europe for the Battle of Normandy. 20 thousand Americans were killed. 15 thousand British and Canadians also died. Given the small populations of the UK and Canada compared to the USA you can see that it's safe to say the Americans were not alone. The allies could not have won the war in Europe without the Americans. But the Americans could not have done it on their own either. Russia (who also didn't join the war effort until they were attacked themselves) defeated Germany in the East at enormous cost. The British fought hard and bravely. They managed to keep the Nazis from successfully invading Britain. Had Britain fallen, the Americans would have literally had nowhere for their soldiers to fight from and the war would have been lost. And in the course of the war Britain lost a greater proportion of its soldiers than the USA did, sacrificed its economy and industry and was heavily bombed having first entered the war not because it was attacked itself but because its ally Poland was attacked. Your comic book portrayal of America as being the selfless hero winning the war on its own is insulting to all who fought in the war including the Americans.

Jesus :D I feel bad for people who live in such a miserable climate and have to go back home after even a week in Mexico or some other sunny and warm place. After one of my flights home I realized life's too short to waste it in the UK lol
