I live about 10 minutes south of Lake Michigan, and we've been seeing eagles here the last few years. I grew up sailing with my parents on the lake and never saw one there before. I spent a couple of years in Anchorage and miss how many I used to see there. So glad they've come back to the lake.

Definition of “gangster”, “a member of a gang of violent criminals”. Unlearn the hop-hip “music” and silly cultural use of this derogatory term.
@TheKatarinaGiselle
@TheKatarinaGiselle 11 ай бұрын
@@briankissel7661 in the 1970’s it lost the last ‘r’ and became a term of approval for tough, confrontational style. In the late 90s-2010’s it slowly became a term used for anybody tough, determined, and badass- both just in their confrontational style or how they associate with others, but in their work ethic and at times when they execute something most people wouldn’t expect of them. It is used since the 2010’s similarly , but even more loosely (basically the requirements have hit the floor). Obviously gangster isn’t a term we should be glamorizing or making it sound “cool” because thousands of people die, often much too young, due to gang violence. And certain words really shouldn’t lose their original meaning when it is still actively ongoing- in this case the gang lifestyle and criminal activities. Just pointing out the history of how the word has evolved within terminology of societal norms over time.

I'm nervous for the handler having long hair around this bird! It just seems like it would be so easy for a bird to get their claw tangled in your long hair and freak out and scalp you by accident. That's what happened to this one lady at the beach a couple years ago. She was just chillin at the beach and the seagulls started swooping at her to try to get some food and its claws got tangled in her hair and it freaked out and ripped her scalp right off.

Eagles have generational nests, meaning their children often take up residence in the nest they were raised in, or makes a new nest in the same general area. We're lucky enough to have a pair that live on our property, that we assume are the children or grandchildren of the eagles that lived here when my grandparents did. Truly one of the most magnificent creatures in the world, one look at them and you can understand why our forefathers chose this bird as our national symbol, and why native americans revered them so much.
