My simpler version. What you need: Mayonnaise Ketchup Bowl of plate Knife or fork You will figure out the portions How to make: Squeeze mayo on plate Squeeze Ketchup next to it Mix Now you have a cocktail sauce :)

That's the first thing I tried when I wanted to mimic a restaurant's cocktail sauce but it seems like it doesn't work. There's surely something else

Interesting, What can you substitute for the cognac to keep a similar taste for us non-alcohol people?
@robertvesler66337 жыл бұрын
Henry A. Thurman Jr. it affects the taste , i used a small cognac bottle i had as a present , it changes the taste drastically

Sir Henry, you have probably already tried this recipe 100 times, in 11 months, but, for other viewers that will come accross this video (btw super famous video, appears on top google search results...), i tried the recipe without cognac (2 kids here) , with brandy, and the taste is reeeeally different. The cognac just adds a layer of 'magic taste', that really completes the recipe. At the end, the % of cognac is so small, compared to all the ingredients, that we don't feel the 'alcohol'... both kids abused the sauce, and no problem at all.

@@only4posting lol it's a small droplet per a whole bowl. Do you really believe that such an amount of cognac could affect your kids? Are they fucking dying or something? Cringe parenting right here.

For all those who may think 'ohh, the taste must be so so far far away, compared to the real thing', well, i must say we are close from perfection. BETTER, i must say the sauce (3 hours fridge) tastes even better than the original. How can it be ? Because at mcdonald, they must be using a ton of extra 'crap', like preservatives, anti-this, anti-that, extra flavor Exxx, Exxy, Eyxy, Eyyy, etc etc, as well as other 'thickeners' , probably, starch, flour, dried eggs + some palm/etc oils, for that 'perfect industrial taste', WHEREAS this recipe, is made of REAL ingredients. We were 12, to devour almost 100 handmade 2-layer PANKO'd shrimps, everybody absolutely adored the sauce. AMAZING However, i must say this. While i fully respected the whole recipe and ingredients, at the end, i HAD TO add around 75% of extra 'Simple Cream', because the overall taste was a bit too 'maionese'D . After adding the extra 75% simple cream, that over-pronounced maio/eggy taste simple disappeared, and suddenly, we knew we had reached the perfection :) Next time, i will try to add a bit of sesame oil, plus/or a tiny bit of sweet paprika powder, to see if i can elevate the taste to the 'it's not possible to taste this good' LEVEL ;)

Cream is a dairy product, it is sold in different types according to the degree of fat, such as: half and half, light cream, heavy cream... the names vary depending on the country though
