I'm so glad there is footage of her singing. It helps ease the blow that they stopped being a band. She is unworldly.

I listen to the usual version during spring, because it makes me feel energetic and awake, as if I’m being raised from an eternal faint. This version sounds like autumn to me, like the last golden rays of the Sun fading away into the trees, and then falling down with orange leafs. This version feels like a beautiful ending, like something that I would hear while dying knowing how beautiful my life was

There are many, many imitators, but none of them come close to the original. This band was from another fucking dimension. I was a young child when they broke up and I'd give a kidney to be able to go back and see them live during this era in particular. Words can't even describe how much their music means to me, the soundtrack to some of my most memorable experiences.

+5eurocups2005 Quite right sir. My mate brought a plastic shopping bag to my house full of Cocteaus records around 1984. I didn't like it at first. A year later I was obsessed. Saw them play in Liverpool when I was 15 years old. Still one of my favourite bands (if not my favourite). There is nothing like this these days. Absolutely nothing.

Because fB's posts (referred to in the comments below) have inexplicably been deleted, I'll just give you the gist. Since the "Melonella" and "Great Spangled Fritillary" lyrics were very quickly identified by lepidopterists, it was always suspected that "Pink Orange Red" was another of those moth/butterfly list songs. This was confirmed long before the reissue of "Tiny Dynamine" with the lyrics on the inner-sleeve - an out-of-copyright lepidopterist's handbook (which may be visible on Google Books) contains a list very similar to the one in this song. As noted in the transcription below, Liz makes a few (possibly deliberate) mistakes - whereas in the other songs she amalgamates moth names (there isn't really a Great Spangled Fritillary) or mispronounces the Latin (in Melonella), here she uses more than just end-of-line echolalia to extend the moth names (e.g: turning "sultan" into "sultitan", as if she'd misread it).
