Code P0720 Output Speed Sensor Dodge Ram 1500

I wonder if a piece of overdrive snap ring went through there and made that sensor break?

Where is the other sensor located? Im buying a 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 today. Owner thinks the governor solenoid is bad but he has to smack the dash to get the speedometer to kinda work properly. I already vacuumed out the old transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. It was black, thin, and kinda smells burnt. However, the new ATF+4 fluid also smells kinda burnt. Im thinking one or both speed sensors might be faulty.

The other sensor is located on top of the rear diff

Same problem here 02 1500 5.9l code 720 replaced speed sensor 2x all gauges work wen I start it abs flashes about a mile down the road it chimes n brake lite comes on abs n brake don't flash stumped😊

Question could this sensor cause on a cold start for the truck having issues starting? I do have the issues shifting but also issues starting on a cold start but no codes for that just the sensor

Starting issues I would check your idle air control valve on Throtle body. Shifting issues could be anything.

I have same issue on my 1999 5.2 changed sensor 3x different vendors still code pops up

I have had issues with this plug in because it hangs down just make sure that the wires are making contact with the pins hope this helps

I got to do it twice as the first one I got from Auto Zone was bad and totally failed in one day, I replaced it Friday night but Saturday morning it wasn't working completely right and by the time I drove 40 miles my wait to start light came on telling me I was in limp mode, Then Sunday morning if would do over 20 mph till I restarted it then it shifted so I was going to go get one after I got home from Church and couldn't get it over 20 mph so got a ride to get another one, everything is made in china, at least the second one is doing better so far, so you might have to get two before you fix it

We seen a lot of this code back in the early 2000's but not so much anymore
