Two years ago I struck a little boy that had run in front of my car. I pulled over immediately, flipped on my hazards and called 911. I was hysterical because I was so shocked and frightened. I was not impaired and have a spotless driving history. Ambulance arrived, fire/rescue and what seemed like a dozen police cruisers and the FHP as well. I was found not at fault and the little boy suffered a broken arm. After that I was terrified to drive at night (that's when it happened) and will never, ever stop seeing that moment for the rest of my life. But to have fled the scene never entered my mind.

I hit a kid. I was in a school crossing and they were letting cars through and no crossing guard was in the road . It was not a 15 mph zone, but I was going very slow because of all the kids around. Then this kid came out of nowhere even the parents didn't see where he came from. My car stopped at the same time of contact. The witnesses sad the kid stood up and threw himself into the ditch. I was hysterical I thought I just killed a kid. I was not ticked,but they wanted me to clam down or I was going with the ambulance. Of course I was sued and so was the city,because of a few different things. I had to pay about 8000 the city had to pay 25000. My only condition to this suit was that the child (who was fine) received the money after the age of 18. I heard stuff during the suit about the parents that made me want to make sure that the poor kid got it and could do what he wanted with it without his parents touching it. It wasn't my fault and could have beaten it,but I just wanted it over. The city had the most fault. They did change the sign to 15 and lights,not just slow down. They changed the way kids cross the road too. It was my 2nd day at a new job and I've been weary of driving since. That was an awful experience and would not want anyone to have to have that happen to them.

We have no details about the person besides "bicyclist" and that is a group that commonly doesn't respect road traffic and takes risks. She was lied to to take a field test, which she should not have done. They will take anything you do and spin it as proof of being drunk. It did help her that she got on video that the ground is not level, this invalidates whatever the cops thought they could get from the "test". There is nothing about her behavior that made her seem drunk and nothing that indicates guilt. The stuff she said is a defense. Unless they catch her intoxicated on a blood test for which they had no probable cause to even give, there isn't anything here. The ripped off side mirror suggests the bicyclist attacked the vehicle, they love to knock mirrors off of moving vehicles as "revenge" for following the traffic laws that bicyclists dislike. The witness did not see the "collision" so they cannot say if the bicyclist fell trying to break the mirror off on purpose. The fact that there are zero follow up articles so her BAC level was never published for us to see, suggests she wasn't drunk at all. They never report on the test results that prove innocence.
@devinbriggs8940 Жыл бұрын
@@_PatrickO I think that’s actually extremely dangerous to just assume that all bicyclists are just angry people hogging the road. I’m sure if someone had attacked her car she would have let the police know that.
@_PatrickO Жыл бұрын
@@devinbriggs8940 Facts are not dangerous, they are all that matters. More cyclists than less get angry at traffic when they are the morons trying to bike on roads. The ripped off mirror makes this look like a cyclist that attacked the mirror and fell. There are videos of even motorcyclists doing this at interstate speeds. People are massively stupid. You can find plenty of videos of cyclists doing this right on youtube. ''I’m sure if someone had attacked her car she would have let the police know that." To that, I say, grow up. There are zero witnesses here. The one witness said they saw the cyclist, looked away, and when they look back he was on the ground. No one witnessed what happened and it is psycho to ignore the ripped off mirror. Mirrors fold if they hit something from behind. You cannot rule out a deliberate act of vandalism by the cyclist that went wrong. The cop excuse of "if you hit a sign, why did you not stop". Because no one would stop just because their mirror hit a road sign that was visibly still standing when they looked. It is easy not to see someone on the ground next to your car as that is a blind spot that you are taught about in drivers ed.
@devinbriggs8940 Жыл бұрын
@@_PatrickO um sure okay, so I can tell right of the bat that I’m not going to be able to have a mutually beneficial conversation with you, as for someone reason you feel the need to villainize all cyclists. If the person is even caught at all. Especially if it happens in a place like a large city where they have lots of crime happen. The cops don't care at all to solve these types of cases. Back in 2006, my boyfriend at the time and I were crossing a side street on our way home after dinner and were struck by a motorist. He was DOA (it took cops/ paramedics over 30 minutes to even arrive on scene). I ended up in the ICU with brain hemorrhages, a fractured femur, fractured kneecap, broken clavicle, and nerve damage. Last I heard from the cops was the suspect fled to New York. The vehicle that hit us was recently purchased, and was still in the previous owner's name. The suspected driver claimed he wasn't driving it at the time. He said, "A friend of his was whose last name he does not remember" . It happened in an area where people don't like to talk to the cops, so when I eventually got out of the hospital I went down and tracked down witnesses that left the scene before the cops arrival and convinced them to meet with police to give a statement and potentially ID the dude as the driver at the time of the hit and run and still no one got arrested for it. Edited to fix a couple spelling errors.

Haha, I worked at a truck stop and you’re spot on. She was a regular who looked exactly like this, there’s a few stories I could tell but the most prominent one was when she created a scene in the store because I asked for her ID. Normally I wouldn’t ID her because she was a regular who’d been in there almost daily, but there was an officer sitting in the store that day watching me at the end of my shift. So I played it safe and ID’d everyone, even the regulars. All of them understood the reasoning why because they’re not dumbasses and the officer was literally right next to the door. In fact most of them asked what he was doing there, I laughed it off and said I didn’t know. It wasn’t a sting but I wasn’t about to put my ass on the line for it. Anyway she threw a tantrum and said she didn’t bring her ID, I told her she might not want to admit that she drove here without an ID in earshot of an officer who was staring at me the entire time I rang up every customer. So I denied her service. Thankfully she didn’t throw too much of tantrum.

The fact she dropped her phone in the car and was more focused on it than keeping her peepers on the road shows she's not just driving impaired but also while distracted. They made cell phone caddies for a reason and special cases that allow the phone to sit in place with a magnet on that caddy. What she should have done was leave her phone alone and pay attention and if at the scene of an accident to stay in the area. Call her insurance then her husband and have the husband take care of getting the kids home from school. The fact she had the audicity to do none of the things I wrote makes her at fault for her crime. She thought she could talk her way out of it.
