This was so helpful. You are such a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for making this video! For some reason, my demographic information did not import to NVIVO. I followed every step: duplicated the same heading, checked if I needed text vs. integer but had no luck. I can't figure out what went wrong - I tried 3 separate times and then gave in and entered in manually. In either case, this was extremely helpful and I am now ready to start coding. Thank you!

Hi! Love this video, it's so easy to follow - I've sent this to all my friends in my cohort now :P Also, is there a way to edit the quotes I have already highlighted/coded? let's say I missed a key word in a sentence I've already coded. Do I have to delete that code and code again or is there a way to edit and expand the highlight if that makes sense? :P

Thank you so much for recommending my videos! The systems allows for users to first 'uncode' it. After that you can reselect the excerpt plus areas you want to add and code it. I hope this helps.

You're welcome! You first need to open the code by double-clicking on the code. You then select the information you want to uncode and press on 'Control' key and click to open an option menu. You then select 'Uncode Selection' to uncode the excerpt.

For relationship among themes, it is easier to explore it outside NVivo. I think NVivo Mac version doesn't support auto coding for sentiment.

Hi, How do I get the nvivo app on my MacBook pro. I bought my MacBook in 2016 and it's 2024. The nvivo will not open after downloading. I have created my school account but it only works on windows I was told. So how do I get it on Macbook?

Hi Philip I exported my codebook in word format. I would like to use it for another project how do I import it to nvivo without manually adding them again?

I haven’t tried it before but you go to the ‘import’ tab and click on ‘codebook’ to update the codebook.

I have been using NVIVO 14. I have uploaded my focus groups, created cases, and now am trying to upload a code book, and my documents are all gray. I have tried saving it on my hard drive, saving the excel as a PDF, as numbers.... I have given NVIVO access. But when I go to upload on NVIVO it will only open the cloud. I am going mad., please advise.

Hi! I started coding my data before creating containers for each of my research Questions. So, I have a list of initial codes that are not sorted based on the research question. Is there a way that I can go back and add containers for my research questions and then maybe drag my initial codes into those containers? So far, I have been unsuccessful. Do you know if it is possible? Thanks

You can create containers for your research questions by clicking on ‘Codes’ on the navigation sidebar to show all the codes. You then scroll down to the end and press on ‘Control’ key and click on the empty space at the bottom and select the first option to create the container. You do the same for the other research questions. You then drag and drop the codes to their respective containers.
