The issue with rehousing houseless people is that they don’t actually do anything to help them, they just rehouse them, but don’t give them any skills to function in reality. And like Moses said some peoples families are on the street and they’re getting separated.

it’s a huge systemic failure tbh because even the minimal programs that are in place to support all vulnerable individuals in general have LONG waiting lists OR they are not easily accessible to apply to (some housing applications open for like 3 weeks every couple years)

From what I have heard a lot of these temporary housing arrangements also lack safety and supervision. If people are on the street, anything that happens is out in plain sight. Behind closed doors, violence can be more likely to occur. Someone I know chose to sleep outside in a homeless encampment because it felt safer than going back to a shelter where they had been assaulted.

its not that unhoused people lack skills. they lack opportunities and resources to escape homelessness. There are many unhoused people who were working normal corporate jobs, only to experience huge set backs

When Moses was talking about homeless in LA…. I’m from PHX. A lot of the homeless that I’ve helped and spoken to want to stay on the streets. Whether that be bc of drugs told they feel it is more free or “safe”, it’s just crazy sad how many have told me that if I gave them keys to a house they’d never step foot inside.

I live in a homeless neighborhood in Bakersfield. Most are men, and orphans raised by the government funded foster system. Schizophrenics, especially paranoid schizophrenics prefer out doors, not trusting things like wires, plugs, pipes. I have lived among them since 2018, moving to #OTK which has the mens mission, homeless shelter and St. Vincent de Paul in walking distance. Many self medicate (childhood trauma in group homes & hospitals) with Meth, some drink, 🍺few smoke weed. Oct. 19th on my daughter's 25th birthday I was alone and was worried I would be sad, I once let losing my health, & home get me so depressed I was suicidal, bedridden and unable to work. The Hope House taught me Dialectical Behavioral therapy and the law of attraction in 2017 and I have never been depressed or suicidal since. Once I forgave those who hurt me, and stopped judging everyone, (homeless, addicts, sex workers ECT.) and started loving my neighbor Remembering Jesus telling us to Love one Another. Everyday is happy full of blessings. I documented that day, by my phone and local security cameras. I bought 6 different beers, a favorite of my 2 girls, friends and green 🍏 apple beer for me, the first one taken by a lady names Alice. I was celebrating with the streets and I bought $50 of weed from the new weed shop, not even open yet, but I was already an advocate it works better than any pill a doctor gave me the last 14 years. Then I walked the streets stopping and introducing myself, telling them to pray for my daughter, it was her bday, offered weed and beer and I came home with 3 beers and weed left! Everyone asked for 💦 water, one guy asked for meth. Haha. I met some amazing people that day, a young handsome guys with muscles without a shirt, Andy. I told him "trying to show off?" Joking and he said I only have a hoodie and it's so hot. He actually offered me a Budweiser tall can, said a man gave it to him, but he doesn't drink. Yes, he did follow me home..... 🤪 I gave him water after feeding him. I wrote his name on a water bottle to send with him in sharpie, remembering all the kids in the past That I wrote names for, all grown now. But I found so many motherless sons, here. I had to learn that me yelling about them using a coaster, did no use to kids with no cups, a fast food one, soda bottle cut in half. As teens there are few family homes, it's group homes, state hospital or juvenile hall. Corrupt people who have several kids, basically an unlicensed group home, if the kids run away to avoid abuse, they are not reported by parents, that would stop the check. The kids are scared to go to police for help, who take them back, remember even. Daumers victim was taken back by police after he escaped. That's how we end up with underage homeless. Anyways I never had a homeless neighbor steal from me and I have had them in my home. In 2020, during Covid Shutdown My car broke in February., cell phone in September and on Thanksgiving I lost my wallet. 😮 It was 6 months until they were replaced, another visit to the Hope House, to breathe and handle the basic calls to replace cards. Living in a neighborhood with homeless, SRO Hotels, and public housing Noone has a phone. If they do they will say no, not trusting you to run away, phones are hard to hold on to when you are homeless, often stolen, no where to charge a phone either. I used to throw an extension cord outside my window, knowing it's a life line for someone. Without a cell phone I didn't know any phone numbers by heart, no payphones, lots of interactions with police, at least 50, and I asked everyone if I could use their phone, they all said no. It was Covid, and businesses were closed or not letting phone/bathroom be used. Who helped me and protected me when I was assaulted physically and sexually, not by the homeless, my my 2 criminal, lowlife neighbors Freddy Moore and Joey Atkinson. Men who never had a job, Joey squatting a year in a home that a local, elderly man who was a loved chili teacher Bob Spencer grew up in, drug user, child abuser he robbed the homeless, sexual pervert. Freddy, nice car, music studio, fast food everyday with lots of traffic to his house and hit every girlfriend he brought to live, after I was raped by Joey, being friends, Freddy spoke up, telling me to shut the dick up, starting months of him pulling a gun on me, breaking windows, and my front door, beating me twice, with nowhere to run, the first time I got staples in my head. Anyways, 2020 was an amazing year for me. I hope we all have an amazing end of 2024. I love you all.

i’m a type one diabetic and so is nick jonas. type one diabetes is pretty different from from type two. people with type two diabetes can take things like ozempic to help curb their symptoms and help balance their blood sugars but type one diabetics can’t. we have something that’s incurable whereas with type two diabetes you can possibly get rid of it, but type two diabetics still struggle immensely. i know you mentioned how it’s not terminal, but it’s chronic and it impacts everything. like there’s no getting rid of this for me and it sucks to think complications from it will eventually take me out, lol. but yeah, diabetes in general really sucks.
