It was a weird thing... I knew Cody Rhodes didn't enjoy his time as Stardust and I felt bad for him, but I was also so impressed by his dedication to the role. He never broke character. He did interviews with videogame websites and still stayed in character, for goodness sake. Incredible commitment to the bit. The man has heart, and he more than paid his dues. I wish him nothing but the absolute best.

I remember seeing Stardust at a house show in Peoria, Illinois. The crowd kept chanting "Cody Rhodes" at him and he kept getting more and more incensed on the ring apron. That was commitment to me and I still remember it.

I know Cody doesn’t like the stardust days and his other gimmicks but those of us that saw his potential loved it. He was brilliant at every gimmick he had. Even the moustache. It takes a special talent to actually give a gimmick like that credibility. All that was a learning curve and contributed to what he is today.

Stardust may not have been the best gimmick in the world but I enjoyed watching Cody Rhodes as Stardust when he was teamed up with his brother and then The Ascension for the short time both of those lasted. It's just a shame we never got to see him go from Stardust to Cody Rhodes in terms of him losing his mind believing he is Stardust and Goldust trying to bring him back as Cody Rhodes. They could have had the same match at Double or Nothing in WWE with a slightly more entertaining storyline if Vince McMahon wasn't in charge back then.

I appreciate the intent to make it work regardless of how much he hated it. Him not committing to the bit would have made it so much worse and while it was a bad experience, it helped his career in the long term since it showed off his character range that didn't really get the opportunity to shine up until then.
