Thanks so much for doing this! I think you're underestimating on a few things; probably closer to 4200 calories, especially if those veggies are cooked in oil. People count the calories in fruit, yes.

Cody, i wanted to thank you for your video's, particularly this one about food! my son is a 12 yr old competative swimmer and has struggled with food and not eating enough or properly. He is an awesome swimmer and hard competitor. Like you he has a sunken chest and struggled with showing his body at meets and training. His coaches are awesome and has motivated him incredibly. Coincidentally we had a meeting just a few days ago and the coach basically laid it down for Liam, saying he has to eat and how important nutrition is. Liam has also struggled with sickness due to chronic tonsilitas. He has surgery scheduled mar 26, after he comes back from san Diego training camp! We are positive that after his surgery and his new approach to nutrition he is gong to kill it at his upcoming meets! Thanks for showing a day of eating as it has inspired him to realize he needs to really really change his eating habits!! His coach and us as parents are main influence but you have also factored in..Thanks soooo much!! From Canada!!

Best brussel sprout recipe for Ally - cut Brussels sprouts in half, drizzle with a Little olive oil , salt, pepper - roast in oven at 400 til slightly charred, - drizzle with a tiny bit of balsamic glaze and mix it together - for a little extra something add chopped pancetta when roasting .. all my swimmers love them .

The way I cook Brussels sprouts is: 1. Take a load and cut them all into 1/4s (cutting down the center longways twice) 2. Fill a pan with water just so it barely covers the whole surface. 3. Throw them all in the pan, cover it and cook on medium heat until all water is gone. Once all water is gone, take the lid off and let them cook for 30-60 more seconds so they crisp up a bit on the bottom. 4. Add pepper and garlic powder and enjoy! I eat love Brussels sprouts every day and maybe this can make them a little more palatable for you

I understand eating this way to keep the energery up. The problem is digesting takes 25% of the body's energy, so if you're always digesting, your body can't work to repair itself. At the very least, try going to bed hungary and last meal at 6pm. This will give your body the best chance to recover overnight. Your Kidneys can only clean on an empty stomach at that cycle is usually at 3am to 4am if you're on a normal cycle. The most difficult thing about eating this way is when you stop being an athlete and you are use to eating all day, you will continue to eat all day after you stop and as many of us can attest, we gain weight. Learn that having your stomach empty does not mean you are hungary, its just your body moving to a different stage of work.

Total calories estimated: 4640 kcals source: I am an avid fitness enthusiast of 8 years. I have most calorie values memorized, and have been tracking for 5 years. I redid the math and got the following: I think you underestimated how much calories the asparagus, nuts, and dinner chicken potato bowl are. That was a big plate, definitely more than 600 kcals. kind breakfast bar x1 = 110 cal breakfast shake = 150 cal apple = 80 cal kind chocolate cherry bar = 170cal peach & strawberries = 120cal warrior mix bar = 110 cal bagel with cream cheese and ham (healthy version) x2 = 800 kcals bowl of berries = 80 cal huge salad bowl no dressings = 70 cal cup of juice = 120cal handfuls of nut mix = 400cal (calorie dense!!) (healthy) turkey sandwich = 350 bowl of fruits = 200cal bunch of baby carrots = 100cal another shake = 150 cal chicken & sweet potato bowl = 800 cal asparagus + oil = 250 cal corn x4 = 300 cal small salad = 80 cal chips + guac = 200 cal total: 4640 kcals (calculated by AI)

I’m vegan, and i pretty much eat what you eat, obviously without the meat. I played volleyball in high school and now do it recreational with some gym sessions, but I do not nearly work out as much as you do. I used to be a calorie tracker in high school and that was the worst thing ever, so thank you for pointing out how there are good and bad calories. If you are eating healthy, unprocessed, and clean food, there really isn’t any need to track calories so intensely. Great video btw!

Hate to be that guy in the comments that points out the flaws of the video, but you claim that you eat like a caveman, no processed foods with added sugar, then you proceed to eat and consume tons of food and drinks out of bags / containers / cans with 30+ ingredient lists.

You say you eat Paleo and nothing processed, and then eat a processed KIND bar for your first snack/meal, then a processed shake, then more processed 'mixes'.... hmmm.. Then processed bread (NOT Paleo), and processed Ham... with processed cream cheese...

yeaup, very confusing, this guy eats nothing remotely like a paleo diet. I am not saying he unhealthy but a young body can very easily manage all the mistakes he is making - a lot of junk "health food".

Alright smart guy, you’d think it’s common sense he means things like no processed meats because they’re no longer just meat. A processed grain bar is still grains and nuts and fruit, just put together. And the cheese was made of tofu, it was not processed cheese.

And again the bread he said came from a local bakery, and was made from brown rice.. did you actually listen to anything he said or just jump in the comments to start trying to call him out, for no reason?

You have to roast the brussels sprouts, and you absolutely have to get avocado oil to do it. Other oils won't cut the mustard. Luckily everywhere from Costco to Trader Joe's to even Wal-Mart sells avocado oil nowadays. Slice the ends off, slice them in half, put them in a Ziploc bag, toss them with as much avocado oil as you need to get them coated, and put them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 35 minutes. Tons of variants on this theme online. You want them just slightly blackened on one side; that's when they're perfect.

Great Brussel Sprout recipe from someone who never liked them! 1. Slice your sprouts so they’re shredded. 2. Toss them in olive oil and season with salt and pepper. 3. Roast on a pan until edges are crispy. *Can add red and yellow peppers and onions too!
