I think it’s very important to have a high intake of protein as an athlete in whatever sport you do. I suggest protein shakes, especially if you’re in High School! When I used to swim I had a terrible diet all the up until my junior year and then began to eat lean and cut out sodas and I saw a huge improvement on my times and energy in practice.

32y/female here. I started swimming 3 yrs ago watching KZbin and since last year, I am now working with coach, BR Olympian, former American world record holder (if I say his name, you know him 🤣) We started at 50m BR 1min and 05 and yesterday I got it down to 45seconds in a year! I know it is crappy time for competitive swimmers but I am proud of my achievements. There were time when I was going downhill, thinking why I am swimming because it is not even my job etc. But watching your vlog really helps me get back to the pool. Thank you and keep these videos coming!!

It’s true about the not eating an hour or two before you swim is nonsense. Me personally, I eat a chicken sandwich before almost every practice about 20-30 minutes before and that’s the only way I get through practice without feeling like ima pass out 😂

I did triathlons when I was younger. I was never and elite competitor. However I did it often enough to need to eat well. I never ever did carb loading though. I tried it once and I almost threw up during competition. To each it’s own; but definitely not for me. I just needed my regular breakfast the day of competition. During the race I would consume around 200 calories per hour in different thing (nuts, gels, and energy gummies mostly).

@@waterandpecca2079 bucket turn wont be very beneficial unless you know how to do it very fast. And the pullouts in every breaststroke turn can be very helpful in getting across the pool fast.
