I really like that hbox seems to want to get better and train with people in an era where everyone’s getting really good and everyone knows how to play against puff. Obviously everyone tried really hard to beat puff before, but still it’s nice to see hbox playing friendlies as he grows as a player with the evolving meta.

@@Supertaldo916 Hbox playing friendlies isn't something that happened just recently with iBDW tho. He was playing friendlies right before summit at Mang0's house with Lucky, MikeHaze, S2J, and several others and he practices with Westballz and Mew2King before tournaments.

Checked in on Hbox’s stream during this and it was one of the realest moments I’ve ever seen on Twitch. Cody you gave him a perspective that he really needed to hear, and you did it in a way that wasn’t condescending, but also wasn’t enabling to some of the things he struggles with. Maybe I’m overblowing it but it was really cool to see and what you did is something not a lot of people can articulate well. Good shit

Gotta say, I really didnt like Cody before seeing these videos, Im not a fan of him but I appreciate him now. I underestimated the work he's doing on his own self due to how he portrait himself sometimes. But a lot of the stuff I hear there also resonate with me and not in the sense of smash but overall. I like this, because it not the: "you gotta be good or work hard follow ur dreams" The way he goes about it is more down to earth but still optimistic and positive. Seeing they're interaction back and forth and how real Juan is and own Cody bring a solution or even bring his 2 cents of his own struggles is relatable and it makes you think in a more good realistic way. And last thing, I love how he is with Hbox and how he want to help, to make him serious competition again, it inspiring and I love how he makes Hbox feel more included and how Hbox now is slowing starting to accept friendlies and not protecting his character anymore(well theres no point anyway atm ) Tl;Dr: Good shit on these videos, inspiring down to earth and makes me respect both person more then before.

does hbox know his visual queue might be off depending on the ping? if he uses the double jump as his visual indicator to SDI then at 50ms lag he's going to have to read the double jump a frame or two earlier. not saying thats why he missed them here, but its something to consider. online and offline are slightly different games and he should have the mentality of relearning the SDI timing from scratch.

@@Parpeing Dude, it goes far beyond just making up johns about lag on netplay lol. Hbox mentioned that for all these years, he competed in melee tournaments at the cost of his own mental health and it destroys him mentally when he loses in a tournament where he tried his very best and he doesn't wanna risk having to go through a mental breakdown just to win netplay tournaments that don't even realistically count towards the official ranking.
